Just went off to look for the July challenge and realise that I am a bit too soon! I have already started mine and my 'month' will run till 31st which is 5 weeks. In view of this I have decided not to lower my target this month and will keep it at £300 please Mrs M.

    Thanks

I am way over but have used the Morrisons vouchers in tesco so we're well stocked up on everything. Next month I am only going to buy milk, eggs, fruit, bread and veg...Nothing else!!!
So £10 a week sould be plenty esp as my oh is away for half the month! So can you put me down for £40 please!
Although I haven't been sticking to my targets I am spending less than I would normally and thinking about what I want to buy!
    Thanks everyone!

I'm in the same boat with the vouchers leaving me well stocked up. But due to picking up DDs shopping at the same time I've thankfully not actually had to spend anything like the full amount myself, and am looking at ending the month well under budget as I've kept the full value of the vouchers ;)

I still have one voucher to go, so I'm off to Mr T tomorrow. I had initially planned to go on Thur or Fri, but due to DD's fridge/freezer giving up the ghost last Sunday the only space in mine has been full of her stuff until yesterday (her new appliance arrived Thurs morning). Once we knew when that was coming I had thought of going yesterday, but ended up with other bits I decided I'd rather do at home.

So that shifted it to today - but having been checking what I actually have in the house (and how best to use the voucher) I came to conclusion my best bet is going to be spending as much of the £30 as possible on freezer stuff. That then led to the problem that I had two loads of batch cooking I wanted to do (8 portions of steak and kidney and 4 of chicken chasseur), but the tubs I freeze in take a lot more space than the bags I then transfer to - so I wouldn't be able to batch cook after doing the shopping. S&K is now in the fast freeze section and chasseur is cooking, so I should be able to get them all into bags (and reduced space) tomorrow morning - and then it's off to Mr T for me...... First time I've done a weekend visit to them in ages.

My June budget runs up to 30th, but I've already been meal planning right through to the end of July in an attempt to use up what we have in (and work out exactly what I need to buy). Currently need sausages, fish fingers, pies, mixed veg and chips - plus pizzas that I may try making from a base mix this time around anyway - and that means I have should everything bar potatoes for 33 of the 35 required meals. May need to do something special (possibly eat out) one day as DS turns 18 in a shade under 3 weeks - so that's 34. I'm currently considering throwing in omelette as the last one.

So all I should need in July is cold meats for sandwiches, milk, bread (though I plan to use my machine to use up some flour and dried yeast after the schools break up and I don't have my GDs - who don't like h/m bread - to cater for), and possibly fruit (have loads of tinned I want to use up) - plus eggs if I go for omelette as the last choice. Won't need fresh veg, as I tend to stick to frozen (more convenient now I'm only cooking for 2 of us, though I do buy some in Whoopsie and freeze it myself)

However, our local Mr M opens on 13th - so I'm planning on starting calling in there on a regular basis to get a handle on their markdown procedures. It's only a few mins walk each way, so I can't see several visits a day leaving me totally spend free :rolleyes2

And I also have DS at home full-time now, as college has already broken up for the Summer  So that's going to mean more consumption of sausages, bread rolls, crips, milk and pop :o

As such I'm going to set my July Budget at £118.60 please, which is what it would be set to if I hadn't already seen how little I need for the main meals. But I'm going to try really hard to keep well under that so I have a 'safety net' to cover DS's extra munching throughout August

I can't find the Julythread yet and will forget about the hop I've just done if I don't post it while I still have the receipt.

Managed to spend £59.25 in Mr Ts today but it did contain £10 worth of fresh fish, toiletries and tons of fruit and a few household items.

Next week will be a use it up week before going on holiday so hopefully this shop will mesan its just a F&V and milk week the following one - best laid plans and all that!

Making bombay potato and naan bread for my tea and OH is having beef stir fry - am starving so looking forward to it - might go and get it started now!
See you on the July thread:T

That's a pretty good first attempt topsy! :T Took me months to get anywhere near my target

Pink usually starts the July thread on 28th, and she'll post on here to tell us when she's done it. ;)

- It's a pity we don't have a shooting star smiley as my budget in June was blown out of the water :o Can I declare at £128.98 a whole £41.98 over budget .

I can't really cram much more in my freezer and the cat has loads of food as the stuff she likes was on offer, so really this month I just need fruit and veg, so I'm cutting last months overspend off this months budget so can you put me down for July for £54 (I've already spent £9.70 and I was only paid yesterday :o)

Think I need to be banned from the supermarkets! Where I've been lazy with my grocery shopping I've also been a bit with my eating and there's a couple of lbs back on, am heading off to the weightloss thread to confess my sins :rotfl:.

Fingers crossed it stays sunny - lots of salad (and pimms :D)
