  • Sending hugs to MrsM and Orkney Star (((((Hugs))))))

I'm declaring at £145.26 this month against my target of £160. Very happy with that, actually. Doing a big internet shop then just top-ups seemed to work for us.

Can you please put me down for £160 again for July. On holiday now for a week, so next month will run from 29th June - 26th July for us.

    Thanks x x

Firstly, hugs to MRSMC & OrkneyStar, thinking of you.

I'm waaaayyyy over budget now, looking back this is down to 2 Birthday tea's this month, a family BBQ (all meat bought from Butcher's), Fathers Day Lunch etc etc so I think from now on any extra entertaining should come from a seperate Budget.:o

I've also realised that I would have been over target anyway because with my 2 daughters now at 13 & 11 they are eating more, food prices have increased and since last year I am now buying Free Range Eggs, Free Range Chicken and buying all meat from the Butchers so I shall have to increase my GC budget from now anyway - shall have a think for July, my June GC doesn't finish until Friday.

Dinner tonight is a Chicken Pie made with leftover chicken from the Roast, some Salad Potatoes from the Garden, had some on Saturday night and they were delicious, shall also serve it with a lovely bowl of salad, the lettuce and rocket will be from the Garden, tomatoes and cucumber from the Supermarket.;)

Hope you all have a good day.:D

I have spent much more of my annual budget than I should have done at the half way point, about £84 too much. I have moved my own goalposts on the budget front this month by including spends on beer and wine to take to friends, lunches when away with work, tea and snacks when out. I have also kept a spending diary so am more aware of what I have actually spent. These kind of spends were not calculated into my GC budget at the start of the year but I don't have another budget for them and they have gotta go somewhere:p

Also I am buying more meat for OH, feeding BIL every week, buying more processed food, we seem to be going through an awful lot of milk and my meal planning has been non existent.

On a positive note, I have been making my own bread, cookies and cake again and have found a great local source of cheap fr eggs. I also rubberised my first chicken!:T

We are going to attempt a really small spend next month and bring the annual budget back in line. I am going to plan and shop weekly instead of doing a big shop when we get paid then another shop each week.

My very best wishes to your Mums Mrs M and Orkney star. What a hard time for all of you. I hope things get better and you'll be in my thoughts.

I've been so busy that I haven't had the chance to update my sig or post in ages.

I've been quite good with my spending: I'm up to €84.49 and I probably won't need to buy much more for rest of the month as there's plenty in the freezer. I admit to having a few takeaways but they came out of my separate 'Treats' budget! The funny thing is, I much prefer my homemade food now - takeaways are not the treats they used to be.

Today's dinner will be using up some salad stuff before it goes off; probably some baby spinach, tomatoes, cucumber, scallions, mozzarella or feta and whatever else is lurking in the salad drawer. It'll certainly help towards my 5 a day!
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Was suitably horrified by £58 shopping bill today. Two of us plus sundry grandkids in and out, but this shop used to be (i.e. last year) £35. Crikey!!

Well my budget has been blown well and truely out of the water this month - the only saving grace is that it hasn't been wasted on frivalous stuff but on filling the cupboards, I'm at £160 at the moment but I did want to do a costco shop as well which would be
    Eggs (60) £4.09
    Bacon (70 rashers) £8.00
    Sausages (80 60% meat) £8.00
    Burgers (48 100% beef) £12.50
    Frozen Hash Browns £5.00 ish
which would put another £37.00 on plus we'll need some f & v next week as well _pale_

So i'm unsure what to do now, we've also just had an unexpected vets bill of £105 and she needs to go back next month as well and I need to buy her some special old lady doggy food.
  • Mrs M and Orkney Star ((((hugs)))) to you both - I'm thinking of you.

Mrs M Please can I join in - I would like to do a weekly challenge of £100 for all food, toiletries and cleaning products.

Angry with myself. DS was talking to Twin2/s BF on the phone and I found myself volunteering to go and pick them up for a few hours. So I decided to pop into tesco at the end of their road for some milk and bread, to save going out tomorrow. (Petrol useage), and I ended up being persuaded by the Whoopsies and Spent £5.08 so that only leaves me £1.55 of my challenge!!
I did save £4.61 on the things I got, and I have put them into the Freezer, except the Steak sliced that DS snaffled before I had a chance to unpack the bag!.
He is having Meatballs with his pasta, and I had a few roasted cherry tomatoes with mine as I am not a lover of Meatballs. That was the last of the Pasta twists.
ONly sheets of Lasagne left in the store cupboard now.
So much for a No spend day!!

    Evening all,

First large shop of my July month today in MrT. Must've totally mis-timed my trip as they didn't have any whoopsies in the chiller at all. Did manage to get 2 x 12 packs of Kingsmill 50/50 baps at 50p a pack which will go in the freezer to be used for packed lunches. Also got some Value sliced bread reduced to 35p which again has gone into the freezer for DD to toast for breakfasts.

Have meal-planned for about 10 days, barring any last minute visitors. It really throws me out when DH invites people to stay for dinner when I've planned what we are having - I don't like waste, so tend to cook only exactly what we need which then isn't very flexible for unexpected guests.

On a positive note, I have picked loads of strawbs today from the garden and also our first crop of broad beans. Great to know that we will be saving some money on veggies this year.

    Sig updated.

    Hi everyone

Have just updated my signature and I have £1-49 to last till Thursday when my month ends! I know I will need to buy some more milk and at least one banana tomorrow but I am hoping that's all. Not sure about next month yet. I am on my long summer break so ought to be able to plan things better and shop more efficiently. However, it will mean more visitors and holidaying at home which means food comes out of the GC budget and not a holiday budget. We shall see. I am not going to tempt fate by declaring now so will wait till Thursday and decide then. Good luck to everyone trying to stretch those last few pennies....
