June 2009 Grocery Challenge

Hi all,
Had roast beef with yorkies, roasties and brocolli tonight - beef was whoopsied to £3 so a real treat! Also managed a NSD which for me is a BIG achievement!
So excited as I spotted my first courgette in the garden today - it's only about 2" long but hopefully the first of many. Potatoes also going well, and first broad bean pods also fattening up. Really hoping to save some £s this year on homegrown veg.
Nighty night,
Coxy

Hi all,
You're all doing so well! I keep popping in on reading but please excuse me if I don't remember who anybody is, give me a few months!
Wanted to share a very silly story, since it made me laugh
I'm keeping track of our food spending in a spreadsheet, and also what fod we've bought (2.5kg of porridge in a week! 17 pints of milk!!)
Budget is £140 for the month, so about £35 a week - last week we spent £43!So this week I thought we were doing well, but when I looked at spreadsheet it said we were up to £79!! Bah!
Sat and thought about it today, added things up on a piece of paper, and obviously I've got the bl**dy formula wrong in the spreadsheet, so it's adding on more than it should be...Spreadsheet fixed, only spent £60 so far this month, much more reasonable!
Moral: check your formulas...
As you where.0 -
Hello all! Mr T shop should be coming in a few hours, £43 all in quoted so we'll see what comes and doesn't. Might try sainsburys for a change next week.
Bad news - today I officially entered the overdraft. It's been a long time coming given I've been at uni for 6 years, but it's scary none-the-less. I've got a job lined up but dont start until August so things are going to be pretty tight til then.
I might see if I can stretcchhh the Mr T shop and the things in our kitchen over 2 weeks as a bit of an experiment... I'm sure I could. We're moving house soon so it could become a bit of a 'challenge' lol! xx0 -

Morning all
Have just done final shop for my June GC, have gone over - by £15.93 - this is the smallest overspend since starting the GC so I'm really happy with that! Spent £11.76 in F/Fds and £51.36 in MrA's. Think some of the reason I got to last week with £47.19 of budget left was because we've had a weekend away this month at my brother's and he wouldn't let us take/pay for food. Also we have cut down on the take-aways. I would have been just over budget but DH fancied something different for dinner Sat eve and most of the ingredients I've had to buy - hence the increase in overspend. Have meal planned for next week and am going to do some baking today, so that should help with the weekend and pack-ups next week.
Cupboards are still full but freezer is looking empty so will definitely need to visit Butcher next week once new GC month starts.
Hope the weather stays good - forecast for here is ok for weekend.
Keep safe and well

Just been shopping at Asda and spent £69.04 but that did include £14 on Fathers Day presents and 400 teabags for £4. Also spent £6.60 in Iceland. My mums taking us all out for a meal tomorrow night, so no cooking for change and hopefully the weather will stay nice so maybe eat outside.
I think I'm under orders to do some more baking this weekend :rolleyes::rolleyes:, might try lemon cupcakes and a couple of coffee ones too. :bdaycake:
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend :happylove***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0 -
Good afternoon to everyone,
Just popping in having updated my sig. Looking quite good this month, but I didn't do a very thorough online shop this month (didn't actually look in the cupboards because I did it in a hurry!) so no wonder I didn't remember everything. Numpty. Two NSDs this week. Very good.
Very excited because OH and I are off this afternoon for a weekend away. (Annual event). God bless grandparents. Actually the dog is more trouble than the kids. (7 months old Springer/Lab, very bouncy) So, just got to finish ironing/packing. OH will pack 5 mins before departure.
:rotfl:
The weather forecast looks good for most. Have a lovely weekend.
