Thanks for that, I haven't had a MrT delivery for a few months so I'm obviously out of date!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Having a NSD today, hopefully no need to spend anything before Saturday when I will need milk and eggs..that's provided I can persuade my family to eat homemade bread as I have lots of flour bought while it is €.72 for 2kilos in Lidl and Aldi.
Good luck all

Hi, It doesn't seem that I have spent a lot so far Yet! This is because I have ordered an online shop for monday, which will see us till nearly the end of the month. (except top ups). I spent £6.18 on bread, biscuits(to make chocolatey digestive square things:rotfl:ice cream, milk and new pots. Also inlaws have gone overboard feeding the kids and having them around for tea. But today we went out to a little Cornish fishing village and I spent £23 on our lunch and drinks(myself, hubby and DS3). Also the milk monster packed off to camp till tomo evening. So I guess its all balanced out.:DGrocery challenge june £300/ £211-50.

Just watched Hugh FW on TV. River Cottage is only about 5 miles from here and we just saw my son and daughter's school on TV making the biodiesel! V Exciting!:j
Hi TheBees - I'm a huge Hugh FW fan, I think he is so inspirational and I thought the Biodiesel was amazing - especially the idea of using the Science Teachers old Jeans.:rotfl:The whole programme was great, loved the bread making and I'm definitely going to try and make some by hand next week and give the BM a rest:o, also loved what they did with that waste land in Leigh - what a fantastic idea, we need more of this sort of project to help bring communities together and give kids something to do - must step down from my soap box now:o, also loved the Leftovers recipes, can't wait for next week's episode.;)
Dinner tonight will be pasta and a bit of an experiment with the sauce, using a tin of Mushroom soup I've found in the back of the cupboard and also some chipolatas from the Freezer as I'm still working from my Freezer/cupboard inventory, pudding is a HM apple and mincemeat crumble, using apples in the Freezer from last years crop and the last jar of HM mincemeat from Xmas.:D
Have a good evening everyone.:D"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Well im quite sure ive failed my first GC as i think i put my budget to tight, didnt realise how much i was obviously spending on food before now, except i know it was a lot:o
Thing is im not raiding my GC money in the pot cos i dont go out every day with the intention of buying something but if i see something or find myself in the butchers i inevitably spend, think ive got a problem!
I dont see it as being over budget though cos im using my 'spending' money iykwim! So can spend it on what i want
Well im keeping going and have built up a nice stack of reciepts to go through at the end of the month
Technically not failed, perhaps just fell off the wagon last day or two.
Keeping at it though!0 -
Evening everyone -
While our gastronomic meal comprising of reduced price sausages, potato croquettes, fried egg and beans was cooking :rotfl:I made a batch of Twinks Hobnobs and added dessicated coconut to the mixture for a change. Also made a dozen scones as MIL and SIL visiting at the weekend. Most of them have gone in the freezer.
Oh - and I also made a white loaf in the bread maker for the first time in ages after seeing all the additives that go into an average loaf on Hugh F W River Cottage last night! Do you think there's a new recipe book to accompany the series?
Managed another NSD today by doing loads of housework instead of going down town.Mortgage Free in 3 part 2 challenge - pay off £9000

Evening everyone, trying to be really good and keep up with all the posts, after last month's naughty lapses.
MrL are sellling 2 Veg or Spinach pizzas for £1 at the moment, in their freezer section. Tried one of the Veg ones tonight and we thought it was very good for the price. Served this with some of their oven chips for around 50p per pack and loads of fresh salad leaves from the garden. I worked it out that the quickie dinner for two of us tonight cost a massive 75p:j -can't be bad.
Still struggling with the budget, but I hope to come in a bit closer this month than I did last. The only thing is we're having a fairly big family barbeque at the end of the month and I'm doing the cooking:eek: I've already made some HM Sundried Tomato and Basil Sausages towards this(now in the freezer) but it's going to take alot more than that to feed everyone. So I've got to put my thinking cap on to come up with some fairly cheap ideas.
I noticed that some of you have been talking about making your own bread and I do this all the time -it saves a fortune. I am a bit lazy because I tend to just chuck it all it the BM but I fancy having a go at some sourdough bread. I made this before and it was fab. DH is a HM bread convert and doesn't like shop bought anymore.
Also noticed MrL will have bacon on offer next week around 99p for a 250gm pack I think for back bacon. HTH
Have a good evening everyone!Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin
