Butcher for meat for the month came to £45 too.

DB arrives today so I am going to be stretched to manage this month on £200 for five adults!!

Feeling very short on inspiration so I will have a look at the recipes for some ideas. Finding it hard to think of anything to put in the freezer now that it's summer. Maybe quiche?

I completely agree! I've not really had to cook for myself in the summer before, and am so used to cooking big, hearty winter meals, that we mostly end up just having the same kind of thing as in winter, only later in the day when it's cooler!
So far we've had quiche and escalopes in the last couple of weeks, and then a load of winter food in between! I think I need a list of summery food?

    Evening all,

My sister took me to the cash and carry, but I was so good. I got 12 tins of chopped tomatoes for £4 so works out 33p each. Mr T's have gone up to 38p!!! Then got bananas and some cheese. Didn't "need" the cheese, but it was blue cheese, a whoopsie and we're haveing steak on tuesday. Has a few days on the packet too.
I could have bought so much there, hoping she'll take me back next month for my stockpile shop. Have some good value meat in there so will need to make freezer space. I saw some lamb hearts there. Butcher told me to stuff them the braise them. Just wondered if anyone had cooked them/eaten them? Didn't buy them today, doubt i'd tell OH exactly what they are though if I do!

Also bought some bath sponges in the 90p shop on Tuessday, so my new totals are
    Food £33.35/£80
    H/hold £11/£15
    Toiletries £1.58/£5 - total grocery £45.93/£100

    Off to update siggy now

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I got some of these in clearance at a local S'flds at some point last year (late summer/early Autumn). Not sure what I stuffed them with, as I just followed the 'recipe' on the pack.

They hold the shape of the heart, so I think you'll have a job disguising them as something else...... DH and I weren't terribly impressed but didn't dislike (decided we'd eat them again if I found them 'dirt cheap'), but DS (then just turned 17) didn't like it one bit (but then he's not into casseroles/stews of any type anyway :rolleyes2 )

Went shopping last night took DS2 with me and his calculator so he could add up as I shopped spent £34.17 after using £5 Mr M's voucher in Mr Ts,the till would not take it so had to go to customer services to get money back and have green points added as they seem to miss them of alot even after telling how many bags I've used.

At my Mr T's (I've used the vouchers in 2 different stores) they have to manually enter something in the till to knock off the fiver - sounds like your cashier had't been shown what to do

Need to get my signature swapped over to my June totals later today, but I know it's nowhere near as bad as it could have been. My share of the Mr T bill was a pittance ('cos DD wanted a fair bit which included loo rolls and washing powder - so that covered a huuuge chunk of the required spend - but the full fiver comes off mine as I'm doing her shopping for her and saving her a taxi fare home of around the same amount), but I have bought all the A!di Super 6 despite not being a lover of some of the items!! I'm trying to make myself eat more F&V (esp F), so this way makes it more affordable to have a selection in the house :)

    Morning everyone.

OH has been to the butchers this morning and spent £34, this wil do us for 12+ meals so will last for quiet a while as we don't eat meat that often, but when we do it needs to be locally reared and slaughtered as well as meet my OH very high welfare standards.

Also we went out for lunch on Thursday £19.87.

No spends planned until F&V box on Wednesday.

    Off to update signature.

    Morning all!
I'm back from the US and have already indulged in a Mr T shop. I had to! OH left to his own devices had managed to eat virtually everything in the house!

I spent £54.34 after my Mr M voucher and a few other coupons and BOGOFs were taken off ( the bill actually shrank by over £13!) but have bought enough toiletries to last more than 2 weeks (we go through tons of shower gel and shampoo/conditioner/deodorant). I also got about 3 tons of fruit and veg and salad bits (the US doesn't advocate eating healthily at all!), a massive box of crunchy nut cornflakes on offer for £2 that will last us weeks and enough cheese for a couple of weeks, along with all of the usual grocery bits and pieces.

I did commit the cardinal sin and not do a meal plan first but I had a vague idea of what we had in and tried to work around that. I'll try and do a plan now around what I've bought and attempt to make some of it stretch to 2 weeks so next weeks shopping is less extravagant!

Its belting down with rain here (just trudged the dog around on his walk) and so sometime spent indoors getting back on track with the GC and housekeeping won't go amiss!
