    Well ladies,
I think I'm going to have to add an alcohol budget for my husband. He's working really hard at the moment and we've nothing to spare mainly down to a mountain of business debts and his work (Self Employed) slowing down.

He's really struggling with the concept of handing over every penny so I'm hoping that if he can have a drink two or three nights a week it will ease the pain  I have to be honest and say that the new style of budget has made life easier for me and I have pointed out that every penny of MY wage has been paid into the house for the last twenty years

Tesco has an offer on at the moment 45 cans of Boddies for £20 so I thought if I spent £40 (£36 with our sons employee discount) that would give me ninety cans which I can hide in my neighbours to bring him 8 cans a week - should last eleven weeks at a cost of £3.20 per week and maybe a £5.00 box of wine from Asda which hopefully will last two weeks. So I'm going to add a quarterly budget of £70.00 to a seperate budget - advice anyone?

I found a recipe by jennyjelly on one of the boards to make wine and i`ve been making it ever since. I did alter it slightly.
DH is a beer drinker who now mostly drinks wine :rotfl:
If you decide to give it a go pm me and i`ll send you some info - it`s really simple and works out at around £1 a bottle :D

OrkneyStar - thanks for the link! I will have a nice long look at that later :)

re. Aldi; We've got one right opposite us (same for Lidl actually!), and both of them seem similar prices to MrT's.. anyone else find this? Or is it only for specific items that you shop there for? (like Cheryl does with her milk!)
I'm quite tempted to do my shopping at one of those, as it reminds me of being abroad  but I think I'd miss my clubcard points for one thing!

Also, cheesy as it may be, I'd just like to say thanks to everyone on here (and the 4k a year board - will pop along there later!) for being so welcoming :) I feel part of a little community - It's a shame we can't have good old fashioned coffee mornings!! :rotfl:

Looking forward to getting to know you all better :D

hello...hope everyone is going strong...i seem to be spending more and more..im not sure if its prices going up....or me getting a bit bored and not watching every penny...i find if i take my eye off the ball for a minute the spends sky rocket...i think i need to start saving what i dont spend in an account seperately iyswim...i think that might be motivating and sometimes use it for a treat to re focus our attention

i thought that was a good idea with the beer...buying a load fairly cheaply and dripping it in to the house (not literally)...we dont drink alcohol so havent really got any thoughts except i sometimes see boxes cheap (i pressume) as i go in to asda...i suppose the trick is to make them last a bit

orkney...i think u do right to cut yourself a little slack...hope it works out as u want it to....im sure ds hair will look cute and well worth the extra

we have got chicken kievs for tea...30p from tesco on sunday...thats a cheap tea...i have got 1 lb or apricots from the market for pudding...i half them and put in a dish...sprinkle with a bit of sugar and dot with butter....cover in foil and bake in oven...nice with cream or icecream...i also do it with peaches when i can get them cheapily

    take care

What's happened to the weather. At least I won't need to water the Garden today but will still check the Greenhouse, pots and hanging baskets later.;)

Just wanted to mention that the Aldi super 6 of fruit is definitely worth buying, the Peaches we had last night were so sweet and juicy, we had the melon on Wednesday night and that too was gorgeous and tonight we will be having the Cherries - keeping the pineapple, kiwis and plums for the weekend and then I shall definitely be going to restock at Aldi's next week.:D

Dinner tonight will be Fish from the Freezer (trying to make some space), HM chips and mushy peas followed by the cherries mentioned above.:D

Hope you all have a good day.;)

Okay - hands up who stole the sun.....

Well today was meant to be a NSD but due to the weather my gardening work finished early, so I thought I'd use the time to go to MrT (again) and get what we need for next week.

Spent £79.08  but in my defence I have stockpiled fresh burgers and sausages for when the sun returns as we do like a bbq. I also have enough packed lunch bits and bobs for next week and provided I stop snacking on crisps, for the week after too! Treated DH to a box of beers as he too is working long hours and likes to unwind with a beer, and a bottle of Lambs rum for me, which will probably last the year! On offer at £10.45 if anyone else is interested.

My month runs until 22nd but have a fair bit in the freezer/cupboards so (crosses her fingers) should should be okay as I've meal planned for next week and then there's only a week or so to go after that.

Visiting DMum next week and will go to her Ald* to see if I can get these super 6 fruits everyone's talking about.

Dinner tonight is Nigellas macaroni cheese with lardons - cheap, cheerful and best of all really speedy!!! ;)

    Have a good day everyone.

Well I am going to find the differences in the budget difficult to downsize! I just nipped into Tesco for a few things and spent over £34!!!
After I have had my rest this afternoon, I must make sure I go back to doing a menu plan for DS and myself, and start looking into the cheaper recipies again!. I seem to have slipped into sloppy ways, that are costing me a lot of money.
Time to get tough on my spending habits!.
