Morning all, off to Asda & Iceland soon, I think this week is going to be a bigger shop than I planned, OH eating us out of house and home (he's giving up smoking) plus my son wants to make cup cakes this weekend with different coloured icing and sprinkles. Will update later.

    Well ladies,
I think I'm going to have to add an alcohol budget for my husband. He's working really hard at the moment and we've nothing to spare mainly down to a mountain of business debts and his work (Self Employed) slowing down.

He's really struggling with the concept of handing over every penny so I'm hoping that if he can have a drink two or three nights a week it will ease the pain  I have to be honest and say that the new style of budget has made life easier for me and I have pointed out that every penny of MY wage has been paid into the house for the last twenty years

Tesco has an offer on at the moment 45 cans of Boddies for £20 so I thought if I spent £40 (£36 with our sons employee discount) that would give me ninety cans which I can hide in my neighbours to bring him 8 cans a week - should last eleven weeks at a cost of £3.20 per week and maybe a £5.00 box of wine from Asda which hopefully will last two weeks. So I'm going to add a quarterly budget of £70.00 to a seperate budget - advice anyone?

I think that's a good idea, especially if it relieves some of the pressure you and your hubby are going through at the moment, a little of something is better than none and he won't feel like he is giving up everything he likes and in the end your hubby will appreciate what you are doing for your family.

Well, I have removed the £80 for everything from my signature. It's just not doable, as with £40 left for another 10 days, this has to pay for fresh F/V/bread, any diesel, toddlers, DS haircut (approx £7, cannot do myself as its a state with his pulling it so needs a trained person!). TBH it was unrealistic (£80 for food for two weeks maybe but everything for a family ?). Oh well, the £40 will last a few days anyway and also there is still something in the bank (I still hope to leave a little to transfer to the holiday fund but won't be too upset if I don't as we ae on a tight budget to start with!).
Ok, enough waffle for me, off to hairdressers, then Tesco, then home.
    Hope everyone is doing ok.

  • Good morning everyone.

I ended having to pop to the shop last night for milk and 2 chocolate bars just jumped in to my hand, so another £2.10 added to my sig. I need to go to mr t's later for eggs and some salad bits for the spanish frittata we are having tonight and DS has asked me if I will get him some of the lynxs thats on offer, 3 for £5, so shouldn't be spending that much

I roasted a butter nut squash last night and it was yummy but I have loads left over, will it be o.k to freeze?

I would make fat free fruit cake. Not for my DH though.

DH is very thin at moment so I am trying to build him up but without spending on expensive junk food.

    Does anybody have a recipe?

Spend £2 on junk on Wednesday as I was feeling hungry after being at work late :o and another 32p on some chewing gum today.

    £5.61 spent/£52.40
£46.79 left for the month! This is sooooo tight... especially as I've got a £5 off £30 spend at Mr M to use up the week beginning 22nd!

I found out that the Aldi being built near me will open on the 18th June. :T Is Aldi any good? Is the special price fruit/veg the same for the whole month or does it change every week or fortnight? I've never been in one before...

The Aldi Super 6 changes at the start of every calendar month (I think it's the first Monday of the month, but I could be wrong!)

The only thing I use them for regularly is the Super 6, the kitchen rolls, a few other bits of veg, and the milk - I get 1 litre (about 1.75pts) of semi skimmed for 49p..... DS has stopped complaining about being "dropped" from full-fat, as I've shown him how much milk he's using and what that would cost for the blue top (£1.45 for 4 pts) - especially after I offered to go back to blue for him and red for me (I've "upped" to green, as red is 86p for 2pts) if he pays the difference :rolleyes2

    Afternoon all

Have just update my sig, and have shopped this week at MrAl for their Super6, got a pineapple, punnet of plums, kiwis, cherries - so well stocked for fruit. Did main shop as always at MrA spent £80.34 - got all the normal bits and pieces their prices seem to be jumping all over the place, last week packs of bacon were 2 for £3 this week it's 3 for £5. They do have Surf Tropical 90 wash packs for £8. I'm hoping to get to next Friday before I need to shop again, we are going away tonight for the weekend so have bought the food to take. This is the best month budget wise since I started the GC - I have money left for the last shop and still some month left too! I do think some of the reason for that is we went away last weekend and I only took minimal amounts of food as we stayed with my brother and family and they wouldn't let us buy any food or give them any money towards it!
Keep safe and well everyone, enjoy the weekend.
