Oops! Have already spent over half my budget for June with top up shops to cater for sick DD1 who has come home to rest and recuperate. She's well enough to go home tomorrow so hopefully I will be able to get back to normal cooking for 2 of us! Will be going to Waitrose tomorrow after work to buy F&V and milk - taking advantage of the £5 off voucher in The Times. Hopefully I won't go much over the £30 minimum you need to spend. Will let you know...!

Another good day today.
£2 for lunch at work (not groceries according to my rules for June)
£27.92 online order from Mr T - well under the £50 weekly budget, so plenty of room for extra on other weeks later in the month.
Well done everyone who's got off to a good start.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Did you put the vinegar in the rinse aid bit and how much lime peel did you use? I'd love to try it.***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0 -
I've joined the flylady thread so that's keeping me busy, busy, busy! :j
Ahh I came across this one today, and was very tempted.. but put off by the hard work!!
I think I may go re-visit, and does anyone know if there is a meal-planning type thread in the OS section?
Personally, HustonKW, I think Asda sounds like a great day out! Food, cafe, clothes, homeware... I was so excited when we had a new one open near work, we were told it would be two stories high! Then I went to visit on opening day, and they'd cheated and just put the cafe on a verandah type thing above part of the clothes section. I was gutted.oh dear, how sad am I!

£5.49 spent on total non essentials yesterday
The children spent the change from the bus fare "because they were hungry".....which was £2.60, and I spent a further £2.89 on sandwich and biscuits for a friend's boy I suddenly found myself looking after while we were out, and who hadn't eaten.....
I was annoyed with the children for spending the change, because I had actually been really well prepared. They go straight from school to ski training, which then lasts until 8.30, so I know they need to have something to eat along the way, but I had made sure they had made extra in their packed lunch, and I took them dinner to reheat in the microwave between training sessions.......so really, the money they spent was just "not thinking" money

Hi,
Hope you dont mind me joining in. I have been lurking for a long time! I have four huge adolesents at home and husband as well as me - 2 doggies and 2 guineas. How much do you think you should spend per person? Not exact figures but just an idea or opinion would be much appreciated.
As regards Costco - We have been members since Sept 08 and recouped our money within a few months. They also sell a lot of other stuff. we just bought a new kettle from C which cost 29.99. In John Lewis it was 54.99. I also bought a duvet set fro my son at C costing 19.99 which I had seen in football mag for 60 quid!!! So it is good value. I just have to be ressussitated (SP) after paying but then do have to remember to spread it over the month.
Molly41I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Hi everyone
I've been very good this week after a bad start.:j I spent most of my budget in Sainsburys on Saturday but have not needed to buy anything since. I need a bottle of milk today that should last me until I go shopping again (I'll just get it from the M&S at the local garage cos even though it costs a little more I won't buy anything else) If I go to the Sainsburys in the town centre theres always the tempatation to buy more.
I've also got loads left so when I shop this week should be able to stock up my tins and frozen stuff.
Anyway I'd better make a start on my day
Have a lovely day
