    Hi All
Been rather busy last couple of months so although Ive kept my spending diary up to date Ive not worked out my grocery spending yet for April and May. I was going to do it earlier in the month but decided to wait entil the end of May eventually.I believe Im on track although Ive had a very expensive month for May with throwing a 60th birthday bash for DH and attending 3 other birthdays. Quite a few meals out thrown in but all logged in my diary! I will try to come up with the figure for April and May later tonight as I want to get up to date. So-Im still here-with not a lot of money for June but we are pretty stocked up and have lots growing in pots in the conservatory and in the veg patch we created during the winter. Now it will depend entirely upon planning.
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults
  • Hi, Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine. Pity it doesn't keep me away from the supermarkets. Although not June till tomo. spent £16-20, on milk, carrots, box of wine, instant coffee and filter coffee. (and some sneaky mini donuts for the mini pixies ofcourse;)). All meals planned till middle of June but not sure about my entertainment budget next week, as Inlaws coming down on holiday and like to eat out:eek:. Shall just have to go with the flow, I guess:D .
    Grocery challenge june £300/ £211-50.
    Grocery challenge july £300/£134-85.

    Afternoon all,

For any of you who eat muller yoghurts, they are 8 for £2 at sainsbugs at the moment!

Thanks for this, we love these but I refuse to buy them unless the work out at about 25p each (or less). Sainburys have sent me vouchers for money off a £20 spend (1 per week for so many weeks), need to plan shopping to make the most use of them.

It appears to now be a regular thing that I go to M&S and Morrisons to get reduced bargains on a Sunday afternoon! Today was no different:

    Marks and Spencer

Got there too late I think but I did get:

    • Strawberries
    • Reduced bread
    • Reduced mash
    • Ickle bag of pretzels (Why do they leave them at the till, whyyyy?!)
    Total spend there: £4.48

    Morrisons

No good meat bargains, but no room in my freezer either :D

Large pack noodles & large pack veggie stir fry, both reduced to 50p. Also got sauce to go with.

Assorted veg and fruit as I'm trying to stick to my 5 A Day!

Essentials were things like olive oil, veggies, canned tomatoes, cat biscuits & litter, cereal, milk, kitchen roll, stock cubes, frozen peas and lentils. I also got 3 little tubs of Ambrosia for £1 which I was pleased with as they are good for my lunches at work.

I spent a total of £41.88 but used my £5 off voucher from the Sun so spent £36.88 :j

    Total spend today = £41.36

Hmmm...around half the budget spent and I have three weeks until payday  Still, my freezer and cupboards are full to bursting and I shouldn't need to buy more than bread and milk for the next week. I will also have to buy fruit/veg on a weekly basis, but I hope these will be minimal. I can see me getting quite inventive towards the end of the month :D
  • spent £7.46 on some reduced bits in somerfield, had some really nice bacon for 81p (orig price £3.35 ). have enough bread to last the week, will just need to top up the milk. DS is back in school tommorrow :D and have enough bits here for his pack ups for the week. I'm going to do a meal plan later and base it around things I already in as the freezers & cupboards are full to bursting. Have used up the last of the fresh veg tonight but have plenty of frozen, so should be ok adn I really need to get my freezers emptied as have no idea whats lurking in the bottom :o.

Just off to update my sig..

    Another NSD here – that’s 8 out of 10!:j

Likely to go to pot now that DD is home; she has only been back 1 day & has been scoffing her way through my supplies. But I think I should have enough in for her pack-ups for the week & there is definitely enough in for dinners.

Today DD did some baking – she shooed me out of the kitchen & said that she would do it all herself, which she did, though made quite a lot of mess. :rolleyes:She more or less followed a recipe but adapted it slightly to suit her tastes. And instead of making a big cake as the recipe said she made individual cupcakes, which are yummy.

If she can follow a recipe, including adapting it to suit, then she will be able to feed herself. This is a basic life skill, though it seems a lot of youngsters (not all) can’t. So I am really proud of her! :D
  • Hiya please can you put me down for £250 this month.

Last month I came in at £290 which was way over, but I had never done a budget before so I didn't actually know how much we spent on food:confused:

Am certain I willl stick to this one though and hopefully have some pennies left too.

    Evening,

Is it me or does this hot weather really play havoc with meal planning? We've had a bbq two nights running, lettuce from the garden, and other salady bits from MrT. I now have to redo my meal plan for the week, as it's going to stay nice and DH and the children just don't fancy slow-cooked meals or a roast! Can't say I blame them :rotfl:

Have cancelled a large MrT order which was coming tomorrow night. Like others on here, I tend to get a bit bored midway through the month with what I have in the freezer which leads to impulse buys. I'm going to try shopping weekly for those bits and pieces that I need. We shall see if this works. Have to stick to budget this month as the balance of our holiday is due at the end of June.

    Good luck everyone for June.
