The richest person I know is a vet. The family home is designer built and in landscaped grounds; the kids are all at v.expensive private schools, and they have some fabulous cars. The trick is to own and run your own surgery and not be an employee, making money for someone else. If I had my time again, that's the profession I would choose.

I'm struck by the number of people in public service here (me included) on the standard £21K, 30 days leave, plus Bank Hols, plus flexi, plus pension. Who is actually making money for the country to pay our wages? It does worry me a bit....

Get to take fast cars home for the weekend. Free on site health, free eye tests etc. 20% off Jaguars, Land Rovers and Fords (now 40% off 59 plate fords apparently, must be hard times for them). Work with many very experienced people and get advice on all kinds of things from mortgages to families etc.

Also on a final salary pension which is always good :-)
