  • Hi
Does anyone already work for Lionbridge? I've just passed the pre-test screener and am going forward to the next stage. The query I've got is around being paid. I know that you are paid by international wire transfer but I have concerns over the charges imposed by banks and whether it's going to be worthwhile really. I thought it would be sensible to set up a new bank account as I would be self employed, to keep everything together for tax purposes, although I probably won't earn enough to pay tax. What does anyone else do and does this sound the right way to go? Any advice appreciated thanks.

Ask your bank about how much they charge. I'm with First Direct and they dont make a charge at all for this type of transfer between EU countries.
    Good luck with the exam!
  • Thanks for that. Have checked with my bank and they charge but I've found that Cahoot doesn't and has no minimum monthly deposit required so I'll open an account with them if i'm successful.

  • I read this thread about 4 weeks ago. I immediately applied. I went through the pre-liminary tests, had a 2 week wait on the initital application. 2 days ago I completed the theory exam. Due to other commitments I did the final exam in the space of a day, having to stay up till 2:40am then be up at 4am my deadline was 2pm that day and I was going to be away all day for an important commitment. After getting back today and literally passing out for 8 hours, woke up, no result yet, then........ I got the congratulations e-mail!

I'm chuffed, this job really appeals to me and I'm so glad I got it after what I went through. Thanks to everyone who brought this to my attention, looking forward to working (:

Well done! You've done really well, it took me days to do that test! How's everyone else getting on? I recognise a few names on the MMG forum. :D

Thanks for this. I'm with FD and rang them a week ago to see what they charge - was told £8 for euro payments over £100 equivalent. After reading your comment here, I rang them again and was told that previous advice was wrong - they don't charge. Better than that, you can set up a euro account with them, then decide when to convert to Sterling when the rates are better. No charge for that either.

My reason for looking on here today is - my Part2 exam deadline was 7am PDT 26th Aug - ie. 4pm GMT yesterday, so I should have heard by 8pm last night. I haven't heard anything yet - have chased them but no reply. Is anyone else in this situation today ? I'm guessing several people will have had the same deadline...

I've tried logging onto my home page with them but I'm no longer authorised - I assume this is normal? I guess my last question is, if you fail part2 are you still told within 4 hrs of the deadline??

Thx in advance for any replies.

I was in the same boat re. the time your meant to receive your results. Mine took 7 and half hours after the dealine despite it saying 4 hours. "No longer authorized" is normal, I'm fairly certain, I worried over the exact same thing, I went to log in after 4 hours had passed and received the same issue. If you fail, I would assume you will still hear from them, it's just not going to be within 4 hours.
  • Thanks AS - does that mean you passed? Is there a contact number for them - sent a couple of emails to the exam support emailid, but still no response...
