What would be a fair spec reapcement for samsung tv?
Comments

I have 2 scart and need one for my home theatre system and i think it would be fair to expect two scarts as original.
I take the point about panasonic however i bought samsung as i like it and i arnt keen on panasonic i think samsung is a better make, am i been unreasonable to ask for the same manfacturer even if it cost upto the 999.99 i paid.
I havent looked properly yet but i think it would be in teh region of above plus its 50" as they have no 42" in that spec with samsung. It i sgoing to be a a hard task to get one what i want i know.
ok look up your exact spec on the website and ring currys sales and ask them for a tv with all the spec you had or better and ask for the model and price, so when u go instore you know what your afterBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -

They only have to give you vouchers to the value to meet their obligation.
You seem to be using the lack of stock to blackmail more out of them.
Take the vouchers and if you want a better TV than yours was currently worth pay the extra
no, you are wrong
the whatever happens contract specifies that the replacement is on a like for like basis the value of the vouchers is simply an estimate made by a manager to roughtly match the main specs ie screen size and resolution, but every other point is accountable and can be fought for
want proof i bought a £1500 laptop for my vouchers worth £619.99Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

Don't want to take the thread off topic or start a brand war, but for the price range you're looking at, just about every review I read when I was looking disagreed with you! Don't rule it out, especially if it meets your other needs. I went for a panasonic plasma and it is fantastic.0 -

well to be honest he wont have a choice at what brand he wants, aslong as its a well know brand similar to samsung he wont have a choice unless he has 3 models of the same price like i did where i had sony hp and dell xps to choose fromBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -

I think they would argue that that is not a significiant enough difference to warrent a tv for a few hundred more. They will probably give you a scart switcher if you pushed too much. Why are they not giving you the value of the original TV which would have been more?
once again, whatever happens is not value based, its spec based, if the extra scart is needed then it is needed in a replacement end of.
it doesnt matter about how much the new tv costs.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Like already stated they look the obvious things like screen size and make and therfore they came to the conclusion 649.99 based on the above this the product they have looked at ps42b451b1720p.
they have to replace the tv like for like or better if the tv is less tahn paid but the same spec then i have no argument however it is not.
The tv they are basing their value on is less spec in a lot way e.g features and as mentioned scarts.
The nearest tv which is samsung with 2 scarts is a 50 inch nearly what i paid in the begining it has 2 scarts however the features (spec) are still no where as goods the one i have and they have none available (PS50A456P).
The next one up 1599.99 and is considerably better than mine but has two scarts and is 50" mine is 42"(PS50B650S). I would obviously be happy with this but i doubt they would agree to it.
This leaves me in a pridacment as i have said they other makes that are similar to mine but not samsung i dont like them and believe they inferior to my tv certainly in term of quality and repuatation (in my opinion)
Anyone got any suggestions ??? lol0 -

ok so you kinda have it but you do realise the make is not taken into account, you cant just look at samsung, at that value i should think anybrand would be acceptable and you couldnt argue against that.
the model you have listed there doesnt show as a real product (shows as a 50") can you send me a link to the full specs of your tv and i will dig around and tell you what they are likely to give you.
i think you half understand it but it seems like your looking primarily at sammys and this will be your downfall. what other brands are there that you think are inferior?Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
EDIT: I HAVE FINISHED MY EDITS FROM MY PREVIOUS ERROR
i have jsut done some digging arround (i entered the wrong part number before)
i found all the specs of your tv
all the specs of the one they are offering and also all of the others
my honest opinion now is you are trying to milk it a bit as it were
the tv they have offered matches of exceeds yours in a lot of ways (i couldnt find your contrast ratio though so i cannot comment) except the extra scart so it is not inferior as you mentioned.

this is £100 cheaper than what they are offering and it more than matches what you had apprt from it being LCD. Now to me this isnt a biggy nowadays and i would be tempted
note it has been reduced by £150 recently so it is a better tv with a better make (seems to be the general opinion between the two)
also i found this

same as the above but plasma
so i see that you have three options
IF YOU WANT TO REMAIN WITH A SAMMY: stick with what they have offered you, if you argue it will promt them to look and they will find this other tv and you wont be happy, you will just have to live with the loos of a scart
IF YOU WANT ALL YOUR SPECS APART FROM LCD: tell them of the cheap tv, they will be more than happy to give you it i should think and you will have a superior tv and £100 to burn as you wish on some new gadgets.
OR IF YOU WANT ALL YOUR SPECS IN PLASMA: go with the other LG, yet again its far superior to yours and the sammy they are offering but you will not get extra spending money at the cost of a technology that isnt that much better than lcd these days.
personally the second offer is the obvious one
better tv than yours (lcd v plasma is interpreted differently)
better tv than the sammy (again lcd v plasma interpratation)
better make
all your specs (apart from its lcd)
no quibbles
£100 effectively "free" to spend
you will not be able to argue this further
this is what you deserve
im not being rude by the way but merely advising you on what you can and cannot get, at least you have the choice.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
I wouls not want another make as i dont like them i lik esamsung however the model they are looking at is from what i can see better in some respects and worse in others.
It has no where near the same features i have with tv i have, they will not consider allowing to shop at another store.
The one they have looked is poor in comparison althoug i am finding hard to find a site that offers spec for both as a direct comparison. Does anyone know of a site that offers this??.
I appreciate you taking the time to look into this for me i appreciate it.
As for the comment about just offering a scrat switcher that is unreasonable as i would be accepting inferior spec not just about scart but many aspects.
The features are a lot less from mine to the one offered it woul dtake too long to list every difference other than to say they is a massive difference, on the surface they very similar but they are not.
The contrast ratio is better and same size but in all other respects the specs are far inferior on the one offered to mine.
broadfcast format supported offers a lot more on mine, they is more built in tuner options on mine. interpolated ratio is better on mine. Mine intergrated to view hdtv unlike the offered which needs a sepetrate source etc...........
I know that i may well fibd that i have to take a inferior product and one i am not happy with or suits my needs but i have no alternative as the company refuses to refund with money0 -

im sorry but they are not inferior in anyway, i went ito alot of depth looking up weight power consumption and everything. all 3 tvs i gave you are superior to yours accept the sammy which is superior in every way but has 1 less scart
you CAN NOT just say you dont ike other makes, you will get what you are given im afraid, in this case an lg is a more than reasonable replacement (theryre better like for like models than the sammys as they have been reduced and theyre a better make)
if they gave you either of those you wouldnt have a single complaint, maybe the lcd one but if they gave you the plasma and you went to court you would be taking them to court on a preconception (and a misconception i might add) that you dont like lg
it wont stand
look at the three models i showed you
if you want to see the specs look them up on ciao and they have in detail specs at the bottom of the page.
if you still have a quibble then post back but your starting to take the mick now, i dont mind helping but you are starting to become the one ripping them off
you are entitled to what i have showed you, that is it. the end.Back by no demand whatsoever.0
