DD not sure how the interview went yesterday as the questions they asked bore no relation to what they had advertised for!

Consoled her with the fact that it was good interview experience and a compliment to be asked.

Got so caught up in various DD's concerns that I forgot today was our 27th anniversary :o - I thought it was tomorrow!

DH thinks it is hilarious that I forgot but is taking me out for a meal tonight anyway!!!!

Have had no breakfast but made DD drop scones for hers. Might cook sausages in the Remoska and have a butty as I don't want to spoil my appetite for later.

    Hugs to everybody.

    Afternoon peeps

just quickly skimmed through as i need to leave for w*rk shortly, i`m on the late shift for a few days

DH and i got back from our camping trip late last night and i must say i really enjoyed it. Sat sitting in the countryside with a good book in the sun is so relaxing :D both doggies loved it and i think that i may start going regularly once again. I`d forgotten how peaceful everything is in the middle of nowhere although it did feel strange at first not having to do anything at all but i shall get used to it.:D

The house has been brushed over with the feather duster as we had a really good spring clean before we went away and it`s nice to see it clean and tidy with so little effort. The unpacking is finished and i should be on my way now so i shall dash off.

    Have a good afternoon everyone.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Afternoon all.

Happy Anniversary Elona & Mr E. LOL at you forgetting!

It's exactly 7 years today since I moved in with Mr LW - does that count as a celebration?:D

Salopman I think we shall be having omelette tonight, as well. Mainly because it's the only thing we can make with the few scraps there are left in the fridge!

We'll be nipping over to a friend's place just briefly when Mr LW gets in from w*rk, to take my house keys so that said friend can pop in and check the house, pick the post up off the mat etc, while we're away. I shall also hand over the few Tesco and Sainsbugs school vouchers I've managed to collect, as he has two young sons who can use them.

Hope everyone's having a good day - ((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today.

    Morning all,

First lot of washing in the wm, and rubbish and garden recycling has been taken out.

Plans today are to have a quick tidy round this morning, hoover, and mop, then dd and I are off to town to pick a couple of dvd'd, come home and have a film afternoon :D. We do like the cinema, but for the two of us its over £12 plus snacks, (although I usually take my own ) we can get a couple of films for £2 each so a huge saving :T.

My car went straight through it MOT yesterday :T, just the car tax to get before the end of the week, good job I had saved for them both.

Hilstep, good luck for your DS tomorrow, hope he passes xx

Welcome back cheapskate, have i read that right, you will have 5 children, once this new one arrives :D

Ok better get on, have fun all x

    Yes, redruby, we'll have 5 (22, 20, 17, 2 & new one), but the eldest 2 don't live at home, so it's not as if we've got a houseful of littlies! :D
Did shopping, no ironing or baking yet, though, so will have to get cracking. Weather still pants, so done no washing today - don't want to use tumble drier, will wait 'til tomorrow as weather's supposed to be better.
Qu - got a load of haddock fillets in the freezer & got to defrost them together (stuck in a lump!) - can I freeze cooked fish & does it defrost OK or is it too soft?
    A xo

Thriftlady love the recipe, managed to decipher it with my 'o' level french ;) will definitely have a go at it.
If you do try it Sistercas check out the comments after the recipe. Someone suggests cooking the chicken for 20-25 mins rather than the stated 15 mins. I shall be doing that;) I love reading the comments on these recipes as people are full of suggestions for variations and will say if the recipe was easy/quick/child-friendly or whatever. A common remark is that the recipe is a 'refaire' or a 'make-again'.

One of my favourite recipes from Marmiton is for Tarte flambee express sur baguette, sounds impressive but it's really easy and quick and makes a great weekend lunch with a green salad.

    For 2 people
Simply take one baguette (not the long sticks, the short stubby ones) and cut in half. Brown about 100g of bacon lardons, or bacon cut into little strips along with a small onion in a pan.

Spread about 100g of creme fraiche on each half baguette (50g on each piece). Don't be tempted to skip the creme fraiche it is what makes this dish.

Top with the bacon and onions then sprinkle with 50g of grated gruyere and pop under a hot grill for a few mins.

    Miam miam (yum yum)

Just in case you get the idea that I'm fluent in French-far from it. Reading French is a lot easier than speaking it and listening to it-it stays put you see. I'm absolutely fine reading most French especially if it is to do with food but when I get to Calvados in July and somebody French actually talks to me I'll be dans la merde, unless they speak very slowly:D

If anyone is planning on taking the kids to see Night at the Museum 2 I can thoroughly recommend it, very enjoyable and funny. The guy who plays the pharoah is Hank Azaria who does loads of the Simpsons voices and he was hysterical. I had a great time as did the kids.

Noah'sPennilessMummy I do feel your pain for your footie team and I felt so sorry for Alan Shearer- I hope he stays on too. But, look on the bright side you'll be able to continue playing West Brom:D

Wow Pooky, that cake looks amazing!

Thriftlady, we also went to see Night at the Museum 2 this morning and all 3 of us loved it (were also big fans of the first film). I always take drinks and usually let the kids take some chocolate, they took half an easter egg each as they've still got quite a few eggs left!

We then went for pizza hut buffet lunch afterwards as I didn't have a clue what to make for lunch, and it was a bit of an impulse thing. Not OS at all, but a nice treat for all of us.

Need to do a quick tesco run this afternoon, hoping to go out for the day tomorrow if it isn't raining, so want to get some picnic type stuff.

Also need to pop to the library as well, as I'm nearly out of books, and that simply won't do at all!

Pooky, that's quite a work of art. See you've managed to disguise the middle ;)

    Afternoon all.
Sausage casserole is in the Remoska for tea and I'm about to make a fruit cake. the fruit has been soaking for quite long enough now *hic*
I want to make some bread, but I'm not sure my arm is up to kneading, I managed to trip over in the kitchen over a week ago and it's still really sore. I had it x-rayed yesterday and there's nothing broken

Does anyone know of a cheap stockist of Rowan wool, I'm after some Kidsilk and it's about £7 a ball
