I sent a message via their 'contact us' web facility and had this email response:

    Dear XXXXX,

Thanks for your enquiry regarding your card payment.
I can confirm that I have now refunded your card.
Please allow 14days for the credit to show on your card statement.
We're sorry for any inconvenience you have been caused.

... I did specifically request the refund go to my Visa card, but it ought to be standard practice to refund to the card from which the original payment was made.

Do you guys have credit accounts so that you had to request this method? I simply paid by CC and would expect a refund to that.

My email reply said the voucher wasn't valid because I only spent £9.78 so I rang them and she said it should be refunded within 5 working days.

This offer just reminded about the previous quidco deal involving the O2 wireless broadband dongle.
Just checked my quidco, and they paid in full 4 days ago!
    £55 cashback on a £30+£15 spend Woot!!
Slip in an O2 iphone sim bought on ebay for a £10er, and hey presto 12 months free mobile broadband for a net cost of.... absolutely nothing! (with a dongle thrown in for good measure!):money:

Quidco still appear to be doing £40 cashback from O2 for this. Just to clarify, I go through quidco and but the pay as you go mobile dongle from O2 for £30; I buy a SIM from ebay for a couple of quid (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/O2-iPhone-3G-Pay-Go-Sim-Card-FREE-INTERNET-AND-WIFI_W0QQitemZ170336621792QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Mobile_Home_Phones_Sim_Cards_CV?hash=item27a8da94e0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72:1690|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1308|301:1|293:1|294:50).

Then I top up £15 on the SIM to cover my quidco cashback and I have free Internet for a year. Any catches...?!

The web page accepted the voucher in the first place. Per the email from LWD posted earlier, £10 refunds should be going back to credit cards at a later date. All these folks phoning LWD up may now cause then to 'correct' the 'mistake' and cancel all the £10 refunds - now that this is being brought to their attention.

The £15 top-up goes onto the pay-as-you-go sim that comes with the dongle - not the iphone sim bought from ebay.

There are reports that O2 pay the cashback regardless of whether you put a top-up on the sim - but I played it safe as I didn't want to risk getting no cashback at all.

    Only realy two catches:
    1) The iphone sim needs to be activated; to do this you need temporary access to an iphone.
    2) Some people have reported that O2 have sent them warnings via text message, that their iphone sim will be disabled if it isn't used in an iphone. (as technically it's a breach of their terms of use)

Tbh I havn't used my mobile broadband for weeks; most locations i'm likely to use my netbook have broadband+wifi access - so it's only of use on holiday or when out-and-about in the car.

Yeah, I wouldn't be using it as my main broadband, just for when I'm away from home if I ever 'needed' Internet. Thinking about it it's probably cheaper to go through Littlewoods and just buy a cheap dongle for less than a tenner.

I like the idea of putting an iphone SIM in it though! I don't have access to an iphone though so I guess the idea kinda tumbles somewhat. If I did work it out though, how could O2 contact me by text when my SIM would be in my computer...?

    You dont need an i-phone.

You buy an O2 special i-phone sim off Flea-bay (£1.99 ish). Stick it in your dongle, buy a £10 top up from the corner shop and activate it by dialling their landline number 08456 062 277

    http://www.o2.co.uk/shop/paygotopup/topupvoucher

(or 4444 from any unlocked phone) and away you go. They send you texts but your dongle/netbook connection software will have SMS text viewing software.
If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.
If my Auntie had been a man she'd have been my Uncle.

Thank you very much for your help! I guess activate just means adding credit to it; it doesn't mean registering it or anything... .

Yes... By calling the landline number you just key in the sim card mobile number and add credit to it with the top up voucher numbers. It doesnt have to be in an i-phone or any phone for the credit to go on it.

EDIT: You then get access to the internet free for 12 months and according to their T&C's this "should" be for i-phones only! ;)
