Given Wrong Flight Times

For the 11 hour layover I would suck it up and take a local hotel room. Priceline might be a good option if the day rates are expensive...0

I was told last week that they had contacted United and it had been greed that the flights could be swapped. They were waiting for a code from United to put through their computer and then reissue the tickets.
However since then the manager who was dealing with it hasn't replied to more than a dozen messages or even answered the phone. Nobody else will deal with it as they say the manager is dealing with it.
The flights were still on their website when I talked to them and when they said it was possible to chnange. However they are no longer available.
What should I do now ?0 -
Thanks for the replies but after travelling from Devon to get a 7.55am flight and then having an 8 hour flight to Washington I don't think the sightseeing trip is for me.
I really just need to know where I stand and whether I can cancel my booking and what my rights are.0 -

Perhaps if you gave the full story and didn't use multiple threads for the same question, people might be more helpful?
You seem to have updated the other thread with info that you already knew but omitted from this thread.
And what good will it really do if someone on here says "Yes, you can cancel it" - will that make the airline comply?0 -
You could call them DAILY to find out what is going wrong. After 3 days of no response, you call them twice a day, after another 3 days, you call them 3 times a day. Keep pestering them until they sort it out..
alternatively (and i'm sensing a bit of deja vu here).. your flights are with United - why not speak to them directly, and ignore holidaygenie
Why not speak to UA Direct? There might be a change fee, but you could try get on the earlier flight, and they'll re-issue you the e-tickets
or, you could read the response that i posted on the 26thi said...
When at the airport, you go to an information counter, explain that you're booked on a really late flight* and would like to know if there is anyway they can bump you to an earlier flight.. that late flight might be full, and they might appreciate you offering to do this for them..
*the only time you can really do that, is once you've cleared customs, and BEFORE you re-check your luggage, as they may need to retag it...
trust me... it's an option, and probably the cheapest too!

Good advice here, when are you travelling? Is it a busy time?
My flights with continental were changed on my way back from Orlando (this was a change to my e-ticket - I assume they cancelled the other flight as it wasn't going) and it meant that my stop over in Cleveland went up from 2 hours to over 6. I asked at the airport and the guy at the Continental desk got it down to 4 for me so some good news.
You won't get anything out of holidaygenie in my opinion as you have no proof so your best bet is with the airline. If you ring them now, you will probably have to pay to have the flights changed, if you do it at the airport they will probably do it for free if you say that your flights have been changed since you booked them (ie. tell them that THEY did it). I know its a little white lie but may well work.
Other than that, go into DC. You will want to stretch your legs after an 8 hour flight anyway. I would definately do that, but remember that you may have to put your bags into storage as I'm not sure they will keep it in transfers for 10 hours.0 -
So are you going to update this thread to say that things have moved on in your previous thread?0

Threads merged
Please don't start multiple threads, thanks

this is the thing.. the OP asks a question, and then just don't return, and starts a new thread.. now we're all trying to help, give the OP ideas.. but obviously, sitting on a plane for 10 hours is tiring work, so can't go on a day trip to the wonderful DC, and obviously, calling up UA direct is beyond the OP, as they only want to deal with the rather well known holidaygenie, i just don't think we should bother any more..
just my opinion, on the basis of i hate having to repeat myself
