Personally I wouldn't have paid the debt collectors. I have never known paypal take anyone to court and even if they did as others have posted you have a water tight defence.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to do a moneyclaim back against paypal as I believe they are based in Brussels now (probably to hide from any potential court cases in this country over their questionable business practices).

Oh and as a general rule as a seller if you get a claim against you it's pretty much a waste of time even trying to defend it to paypal. 99.9999% of the time they will side with the buyer regardless.

Paypal issues and the like are generally why I make most of my ebay listings these days collection only. Of course you must still offer paypal even on cash on collection but I add a disclaimer in my listing stating "in accordance with ebays stupid policy to offer paypal on all listings even those that are cash on collection paypal is offered to any bidders from mars/with 6 heads/who were present at the crucifixion***"

*** delete ridiculous requirment or replace as appropriate.

Never had a problem since doing that

Yes, I can read thanks. I even managed a whole A* for my English Language thanks :D

There was no need to be rude. Your posts are very shouty shouty so perhaps I overlooked some details. You need to learn to chill a little and stay calm. Getting agitated and aggressive won't get you far, especially with paypal.

I was just trying to explain that Paypal are morons and won't understand anything other than basic requests.

congratulations on the english a.as you can see i did not.
i wasnt being rude.you admitt you were not reading it properly.hence the question can you read.i use these forums for advice, i know people know a lot more than me.if i was giving advice on a post,i would make sure i didnt"overlook some details" before doing so.
pay pal do seem to be morons dont they.

Are you sure that the buyer's complaint was that it wasn't new, and not that it was the wrong model? Cos it sort of sounds like it from the OP. Anyway- yes you do have to accept returns if you use paypal, you have to use paypal if you use ebay, so it is a risk, sadly. However, you got your item back, so you are only out of pocket by the price of the postage and fees. I'd say this is a pretty good deal, buyer unhappy wise, as a lot of people have never got their high value items back, they get "lost in the post". (Apologies for the block of text- my enter key is broken :o)
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine
:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:
I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

ill log on now,buy a car and return it in a month when ive finished with it.it will save me on car rental.i wont need a valid reason, and if they get the car back,it will be a good deal for them.

  • my previous post is not a dig at turkish.
ill try and make a point.
you bid,you win,you buy.its a contract.a pointless one becuase you can return anything for no reason.
my original post may seem petty etc.a small trivial amount of money.
the people in the caravan thread were mugged by the buyer, and unbelievably the so called law.
its the same problem on different scales.a dodgy buyer.ok ebay doesnt control the law,and the caravan ended up a legal matter.same dispicable behavior though.
ebay.ebay is its members.without them they are nothing.now all the coplaints in the world probably wont change a thing, ever.
what certainly wont help is peoples attitudes to just put up with it.
on one hand its a system set up with terms and cons etc.they only ever protect ebay/paypal.

Is that true Turkish?? Do Ebay & Paypal Contract terms really over ride the law if you decide to use ebay and mean that everyone has to accept returns for non faulty goods??

    Of course it doesn't......What rubbish,

Therefore paypal had no right to refund and the op is not liable, which means the debt collector had no right making threats to ruin the op's credit file and quite possibly commited a criminal offense contrary to the Administration of Justice act 1970
