Thats grand of him Lesley but I speak from experience. The Premiership will kill you financially unless you change your habits. I have a friend who is still in serious debt from the first few seasons when we got promoted. We used to go every game home and away. Thats when games cost about £15 or less and trains about the same - cost of some peoples nights out.We continued to do this in the Premiership when not only all the train tickets doubled or worse, the match tickets went up significantly. Our season ticket went UP £200 from £280 as we were forced to sit down- having to move to another ground while seats were installed.Unlike the Championship where a lot of season tickets went down, ours stayed the same while others still went up.
Well done to you as a fan- I know how it feels to go up to this level. But as this is a money saving board, I am concerned about the effect on your finances.
Catman I used to live in the area and a lot of their fans are not exactly the prawn sandwich corporate mob but normal decent working class folk. I have quite an indepth knowledge of the area , the team and their fans and also know a lot of people with many years experience visiting their ground, am also a local born n bred lass.I recall when they lost and smashed up their own town. I also have experience as a northern fan of a southern team of the police having to rescue us from a pub there when they had got wind there were some southern team fans there and stormed the pub - even tho we were incognito and quiet.
Floss there was no malice intended in my Op. I was just concerned. This is MSE so presume none of us has much money to throw about. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Hi Reverbe,
MSE isn't necessarily about not having money to throw around but about making the most of what money we do have, and most people who post here spend what they have in whatever way they want to.
You are entitled to your opinion about the Premiership and Burnley fans, but I don't think the Old Style daily thread is the best place to discuss it.

Reverbe Its too nice a day and I'm in too good a mood for the deep and philosophical debate that you seem to want to have.Just let me assure you that we will indeed fund our premiership season and I and many other female fans did pledge that should Owen Coyle lead us to promotion we would show our gratitude for him by having his babies and naming them after him:rotfl:That being said Owen who shall from now on be referred to as 'God' has just been given a £1m bonus for getting Burnley to the premiership so the maintenance I shall get for him for little Owen will more than pay for the upcoming premiership costs. As they always say ' God will provide' :rotfl:
I apologise to anyone who is offended by my use of God in such blasphemous terms but to some of us Football is a form of religion and we all need someone to worship in any religion:D

Bitsy: where do you get soya mince from? Mum used to use it when I was a fussy teenage veggie. I've always found that it takes a lot of seasoning but after that I find little difference from meat, except the price. Whatever you do though, please don't give it to the birds, dried stuff is bad for them
Bought it from Tesco's. Its the dried stuff. Not sure if that affects the taste and texture more.
Thanks for the tip about feeding the birds. I haven't got around to doing it so I think in the bin it shall go!I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0
