Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone.
Hope you all had a good bank holiday.
Had terrible nights sleep last night. Felt fed up, had bit of insomnia and restless leg. Been awake since 5.30am so am sooooo tired it's unreal.
Weather looks cool and breezy, never had any rain yesterday (or thunder - which I love). It had better come soon my water butt needs replenishing! My veggies aren't doing so well but I may have worked out what the problem was so at least if I germinate some more I can avoid it happening again (hopefully!).

Made a cottage pie bulked out with lentils and soya mince. I have come to the conclusion that dried soya mince is the devils food. It's vile. I am going to stop using it. Lentils are much nicer. The kids don't seem to like it either. Only thing is I have a large unused bag still. It goes against my nature but I really think I am just going to throw it away. Can I feed the birds with it I wonder?...........
Made some lovely scones yesterday and although I didn't have clotted cream the whipped cream was just as nice so made me feel on holiday in Devon :D If only that was the case!
Need to make a loaf and have a nose as what's for tea. Think it's something quick and easy as i can't muster up the energy to do anything complicated (well more complicated than beans on toast :rotfl:)
Have a good day OS or not.
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.

    Morning.
Back to work for me today. Enjoyed a nice bank holiday with a walk around the Lost gardens of Heligan. Never been there before even though I can get in free and it's only a few miles away. Probably better than Eden Project is some ways.
Looking for the weather to brighten up so the kids can enjot half term at the beach.
not much news from here, so have a nice day

    Good morning

Not much OS to report over the weekend. We went camping so all food was from packets, tins and the pub:D. We visited Abbotsbury Swannery on Saturday and Lulworth Cove on Sunday and now have loads of photos to sort through. Got back yesterday to find DD2 had cleaned and tidied the kitchen, bathroom and lounge and watered all the veggies thoroughly:T

Anyway, need to get back on track today so dinner will be roast pork with lots of healthy veg, and the WM will be running non-stop.

Hope everyone had a good weekend, sorry haven't had time to catch up on threads.

    Good Morning All

Very wet and miserable today. Have loads of paperwork to get done but have promised kids to take them to a Secret Nuclear Bunker not too far from here. So will need to get as much done first thing this morning before we go.

Did want to get some paperwork done here and there over the weekend but this horrible cold stopped that. Its a bit better today thankfully.

So best be off now and get on. Going to check the weather forcast for the next few days - fingers crossed its meant to improve.

OS will be normal cleaning with stardrops and vinegar if I have time to fit it in!

    Not very secret then!!

Bitsy can you mix it half & half with regular meaty mince? Or try making chili with it maybe?

Not much OS for me except the usual bung on the washer, attempt the ironing tonight & use some of the cold y/s chicken & potato salad mountain from the fridge  Think it will be a chicken buttie for lunch at work today :)

Spent ages carefully watering all my pots last night - then it chucked down for half the night....poor little mange-touts are all flat now!

Have a good day all, :grouphug: to those who would like one

    Good morning everybody

I've been wide awake and up for an hour now (thanks to the noisy birdies outside)
I'm dog/housesitting for some friends till tomorrow and although it is lovely here I've not had a decent lie in all weekend due to the wildlife all serenading me as soon as it starts to get light. Saying that it is very nice and makes a change. I'm still job hunting since we moved with OHs job and since I'm on my own today (OH will be back later) I think I will have to look at the finances. I've got into bad habits, not keeping a check on spending etc
Its a bit dismal looking outside so I don't think there will be any sunbathing happening today (It was glorious Sat and Sun but dull yesterday) but with this weather can almost see our friends lovely new veg garden growing :jI was dreading the hailsones that were supposed to arrive yesterday in case they did damage but as it is everything is hunky dory

    Anyway enough of my waffling
    Have a lovely day everyone

    Morning all

Wet and windy here in Kent. Am only in work for half a day today as it's my GD's birthday to day so will be chief photographer and camcorder person this afternoon at her party at the local fun gym :D Have some salady bits and bobs in the fridge that I will use up for dinner tonight if I have any room after all the birthday cake ;)

Will come home at lunchtime, tidy up, charge up what needs charging photography wise and ring up EON as they have e-mailed me asking me to send them our meter readings only to be told when I do that there is a problem with my logging on and to ring them

Have a good day all xxx

    Morning all,

Its pouring here , which is typical, as my car goes in today for a service, mot, and air con, dd and I have to hang around town waiting for it . Still we had a great weekend weatherwise.

So today will have a swish and swipe, but have to leave home at 9.15, so not a lot will be done, will not do any washing as I cant dry it

Tea will be a mixture of leftovers, there is some chicken left from yesterday, and some mash, thought I might grate the odd bits of cheese we have left, and mix with the mash, and an egg to bind, season it and make sort of potato cakes, I have only made these once before and they crumbled away to nothing , but will have another go.

I hope the car does not cost too much, I have already paid most of it online, I am getting it done at Kwikfit, and they do seem to be reasonable.

DD and I will have lunch out, and I need to get some new bras, and I will be searching the charity shops for books, as I have run out, and I cant bear not having anything to read.

    Have good days all.

Diva, hope you are ok ??

Beth, hugs to your DB's xx

That's what I did :o I have tried it a few times before but not getting into it. I think it's the fact that it has the texture of soggy breadcrumbs but without any decent taste.
it goes against my principles but am going to have to toss it :o
