Afternoon everyone:)
Have done the shopping. I go to Waitrose and after having to pop into my local Sainsbury yesterday I appreciated it all the more today. So spacious and pleasant, no sweets or anything else at the checkout, grammatically correct signs (10 items or fewer;)), fantastic, helpful, intelligent staff and locally grown asparagus cheaper than my farm shop! Frankly it is well worth the slightly higher prices.
The kids and I have just had pasta salad for lunch. Pasta salad doesn't thrill me particularly but they loved it and eldest son ate 3 bowlfuls.
We're having black beans and brown rice for supper. That will be black beans (from the freezer) with sweetcorn and some leftover pork goulash (mostly tomatoey liquid), onions, garlic, coriander and possibly chopped avocado served over brown rice. Maybe some grated cheese for the bigger appetites.
I notice the cake tin is empty so I'll be baking something this afternoon -muffins or flapjacks probably.
Weather isn't too bad here so my washing is out.
I notice Penelope Penguin has resurrected her Hull FC avatar. Can't think what that's about:D Skin of your teeth Penguin, skin of your teeth:p
My team has been relegated (again) sob, sob:(0 -
I apologise for only popping from now and then, but I'm a busy boy and have too much on!
I've been trying to do DIY on the house, this weekends task was hang two new doors, which are metric doors (impossible to find, twice the price of normal doors!) and dear god were they a pain! After cleaning up, it was 7:30pm and I was too tired to cook - as was other half. She asked what I wanted and I said 'something quick that won't upset my stomach, how about order a lamb shish kebab with lettuce, toms and cucumber for me' (it's healthier than anything else) and my other half had a chicken kebab - the sort cooked over a grill not off the revolting spits.
1am this morning (where did the :bleugh: icon go?) my other half spent most the night on the sofa running between there and the loo. Food poisoning. Some guilt from my behalf for suggesting the kebab in the first place, but I didn't force her to eat it or choose what she was having at least. She's ringing enviromental health since she'd only had a new pack of philidephia and fresh bread for lunch and wheatabix for brekky - seems fairly conclusive to me.
Now the doors are up, instead of having a big living room with open plan (messy) study and kitchen I feel I can clean one room at a time and keep them tidy.
Just wishing for a simple life, I've only got my scouts to run, allotment to keep, St John Ambulance, work and website business...Tim0 -
Afternoon Everyone
sorry I havent had time to keep up with the daily for the last few days as Burnley have been in the play-offs at Wembley and we won!!! Premiership football for us next season:D
We didnt get home until 2am and then we all went for a little drinkie to celebrate and got in the house at 4amish:oI've got a mouth like an arabs sandal today and my throat is killing me from all the singing but it was worth it.The victory parade is tonight so out on the beer again I think;)
OS wise apart from washing the pots and vacuuming this morning little else has been done.I did hang a load of washing out though and hubby is cutting the grass as we speak.I've taken some chicken out of the freezer so I'll have that with broccoli and cauli gratin and swede and carrot mash
Hope everyone is healthy and nothing too tragic has happened in my absence

Hello Again
Sun is out here now so perfect conditions for the garden. A farmer said to my Dad last week that if it didnt rain soon the potatoes were going to really suffer and prices would go up so am glad that it certainly has rained over this part of the country.
The (not so) Secret Bunker was very good in a strange way. Reminded me of the late 80's early 90's when as a teenager me and my friends were really worried about a nuclear war. Was quite spooky but glad I went.
Have to admit to a very non OS MC D's for late lunch  but wont have to cook anything major tonight.
Have posted 2 ebay sales and just about to post another, didnt make much this time but anything is good for stuff I would have thrown away in the pre MSE days. Also is decluttering. Am going to set myself a list 5 things a day ebay challenge next week when the kids are back at school.
So off down the post office.........
Elona hope DD's interview went well.
Donny - have just treated myself to a cross stitch mag from Asda - will have a read though this evening.

its very expensive. Your average Burnley fan wont be able to afford it. They would be better in the Championship..:p
sorry can't agree with you there as Burnley Chairman Barry Kilby promised the season ticket holders that should Burnley ever gain promotion to the Premiership he would refund the cost of that years season ticket and give them the following years season ticket free of charge.Barry has been on the local radio this morning confirming he will be fulfilling his pledge so rather than the average Burnley fan not being able to afford Premiership Football we're getting it for nowt and a few quid to spend on away tickets too:T:beer:
