they retail at around £25k i think. i would rather have the focus than an s3 or an r32 any day of the week.

all down to taste I suppose, the RS seems to be a bit more balls out than the audi or the golf and I have to say it sounds fantastic. personally I like to slip under the radar a bit more.

however for 25k I would expect 4wd and it is one ugly car.

autocar only got 3000 miles out of their first set of fronts on the test car.

still reckon my facelift S3 8P would rip one of these to shreds, good chassis or not :D

Just because its advertised at 30K doesnt mean it sells for 30k

And what would you rather spend £30k on?

    Evo X
    Imprezza STi
    BMW 335i coupe
    Brera 3.2
    Audi A5 3.2 Quattro

or just a humble Ford Focus ;)

    BMW 135i?
    06/07 plate Cayman S?

    Hello MrsE!!

Long time since posts etc. Personally - I cannot stand Bluewater or Lakeside - I've not been near either for at least five or more years! Those sort of places give me anxiety attacks! If they were empty, i may be able to cope, but all those people...... all that burberry......... you know what I mean........... :D

I really really hate shopping, whether it be food or clothes or whatever, I really hate it!! I love the online thing! Saves me going out and wasting my valuable time mixing with .... er ... plebs and idiots that get in my way.

Meanwhile, MrsE, did you see an RS on your trip to Scumland?

I finally got my RS 2 weeks ago.

I've got it on a 6 month press loan at the moment, and will write a full review of it for one of the magazines later in the year. My only gripe with it at the moment is its awful ride quality. You simply cannot use it as an everyday car. Luckily i've got another press motor to use most of the other time.

It's nice car...but i wouldn't buy one, even though i've only been driving it 2 weeks. The R32 is just a lot easier to live with and you could probably pick one up for 16k second hand. The interior is also better in the VW, because the RS just comes in the standard focus trim, which is disapointing for a car that costs the best part of 30k!

Also, the airvents on the front bonnet are fake...which again is disapointing for a car of this value.

But will the VW sell for more than its worth Dan?

You in white stiletto county? What colour is yours - I still haven't seen another one....

Standard trim? Not in son's one! It is completely different and has a !!!!!! load of extra's. Nothing at all like his ST's and they were nice!

You won't get a 'nice' ride from it Dan - its a Rally sport car (hence the RS) and is hard and harsh - they are meant to be that way! If you want comfort, then you need to look elsewhere! Though I found it comfortable on a longish trip - but I knew what to expect. I drove one of the original RS's. (Yes, it was a long while ago... :D)

Edit: Dan - if you got this on loan, I wouldn't advertise that fact! Could upset a whole lot of people!

the VWs do hold their value well. The RS will only sell more than its worth if your son keeps its millage below five thousand a year, anymore than that and it will depreciate.

My press loan is in green, which makes it easy to find in the carpark!

The interior is pretty much the same as the ST, bar the seats and a few minor touches. Ford have kitted out their press fleet with every extra they have, but my brother (who owns an ST himself) struggled to tell the difference.

As i said, the ride is brutal. The Evo X FQ 300 is better and has 4 wheel drive and an easier ride. We took an Evo and RS to scotland for a feature and, when it came to driving back, no one wanted to use the RS. We pulled straws in the end :rotfl:

But its still a nice car, just a shame Ford didn't go for an all wheel drive system and got rid of the fake air vents.

Are you Canvey way? There has been a 'sighting' of a green one over there - but that was more than two weeks ago... :D
