Are you Canvey way? There has been a 'sighting' of a green one over there - but that was more than two weeks ago...
No, i'm in Chelmsford. I've seen a few on the m25 tho and Ford has sold about 3,000 so there are quite a few about.0 -

I don't "notice" cars, but I do see Porsche Cayeannes (sp?) quite a lot.
On Top Gear (DH watched it) they said the same number are owned in Surrey as they whole of the rest of the UK.
They are ugly things though.0 -

I've driven a few Cayennes....they are impressive motors, but pointless really.
They do some incredibly fast ones, which will do 0-60 quicker than the RS or any other ‘hot hatches’ out there. But who really wants a 180mph off-roader? Their fuel consumption is awful too, with 20mpg the best you can get. I had one for a month and it was reporting 13mpg! :eek:
However, the new diesel is suppose to be good...but they are one ugly car!0 -

the air vents on the bonnet are fake? oh dear...:rotfl:
I could vent but can't be ar5ed .. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
With respect Dan, think you are talking out of your bottom............
For one, you said 'standard Focus trim' - you are wrong and I say that as I have sat in the blasted thing several times (its not a blasted thing, it is really good).
You compare it to a VW - which you said would hold its price well... Astute people (I don't agree with what they have done, mind) ordered the RS a couple of years back (or less), and have now sold them on earning a minimum of 5k in the process. I think that is more than 'holding their price'.
Dan, this is the last RS Fords intend to make. They have only made 8k worldwide - and you give the impression that 3k are floating around the M25.................
I think this RS will more than hold its price. You say you have one - and you are not impressed, why on earth would Fords give you one?? You don't like the 'ride' - its hard, but it is a Rally Sport car and the ride is meant to be hard!
They are scarce, people have paid 2k minimum deposit for these, some on the waiting list for 16 months or more and still waiting - but you have been given one...... ??
I'm trying not to be cynical but it just doesn't 'feel' right.
Sorry.Genie

he's a car journalist, he's said it in other posts.0 -
I'm only getting just under 31 MPG:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Mainly B & some A road driving. Short distances mainly though.
DH gets 45 MPG in his Galaxy:rolleyes:
Recommend MrsE that you trade your Cayenne in for something more practical. How about a Mercedes AMG? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Genie

He could well be.... but we can call ourselves what we like on here!
And these cars are like gold dust and if you go on pistonheads you will see what I mean - they are just not 'given away'.
Post this thread on there and see what happens!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Meanwhile...........
I'm off for the night now - will let you all do some research !!Genie

As james said, i’m a journalist. I get paid to review cars and give an honest opinion. It is common practice for car manufacturers to send us cars on long term loans...it lets us run them in and report on how they are to live with. Every journalist i’ve spoken to have said the same about the RS...”nice car, but i wouldn’t want to drive it every day”
Firstly, the RS is NOT as ford intended it to be. The original design included a 4 wheel drive system...this got scrapped because Ford couldn’t afford it. They had to cut corners, which sadly included using a Focus ST Engine. The engine is exactly the same as the ST, only the turbo has been turned up.
I met with ford on Friday for a press event, they said they have delivered 2,500 cars, and another 500 to be processed. The RS won’t be limited, they will sell as many as they can....but with the economy in the current state that will probably not exceed 10,000 units world wide.
I suggest you sit in a new focus ST...and then the RS and tell me the difference. Apart from the seats, and some RS badges i can’t tell them apart. I had a new ST for 3 months last year.
Yes, people have made a profit...but on MINT condition cars with 100 miles on the clock. As i said, anymore than 5,000 a year and the value will not hold.
The ride is bad, and i’ve driven every ‘hot hatch’ out there. The best car for the money is the Evo X, followed by the R32, which is being replaced by VW. And as i said, as a journalist, I get sent cars to test...i don’t have to like them, otherwise i wouldn’t be any good at my job!
Edit: and ford don't 'give them away'...we have them for 3-6 months than then they get returned. Insurance is also provided by Ford.0
