Things are as dead as a dodo in this neck of the woods. Asking prices are reducing all over the place, but the houses I'm watching haven't sold - just the opposite, a couple that have been under offer for several months have come back on the market again. A few houses that must have been taken off the market over Christmas have reappeared. It all seems to have ground to a halt.0 -

Hahaha......yep I'm still here and the very same things are happening around here too. Nothing at all seems to be moving, but not too many price reductions, so at least I know it's not just us. I keep wanting to give up on it all, but if we take it off the market it will never sell!!
I think we just have to hold our nerve somehow.0 -
Am I wrong in thinking we need to change EA? We had accepted a (very low) offer on our house for the reason our EA told us the 'buyers' were 'cash buyers in rented'. Seems clear to me. BUT these 'buyers' have pulled out (just as we signed the contract on our new house, and after the 'buyers' had paid for the survey on ours) . Apparently these 'buyers' cannot raise a mortgage on one of their BTL properties. I feel I have been misled by my EA. These people were NOT cash buyers and the EA encouraged us to accept a derisory offer. We have stuck with these agents for over a year- two 'sales' have fallen through. Who is the mug??0

Gutted as today we had our 1st viewing booked in after 3 months on the market and a 10K drop to £99'950 on our house. I am in the north.
She rang this moring and cancelled after we tidied and cleaned for hours last night : ( So dishartening!
We are so stuck as hubby moves to start a new job miles away at the end of feb and ill have to stay here until it sells.
There are some going under offer in a 1 mile radius of ours although wether they sell or not is another matter. I just want someone to come through the bloody door! x0 -
Another potential seller still here. Just doing the redecorating bit. Had an estate agent around today for a bit of advice on what was essential work. Was very pleased when he advised that the doors between our lounge and dining room should be white and not mahogany - husband who put the doors in insisted on mahogany even though I wanted white, he has now grudgingly accepted that he will repaint them, so result! EA also offered a commission rate of 0.75% which I think is quite good (is it?). Will be about 4 weeks till we are ready for market, but then fingers crossed!0

Am I reading this right? You exchanged contracts on another house before contracts were exchanged on yours?
If that's right, I think you need a new solicitor first!0 -

Same round here too. We've been on the market 10mths now, plenty of viewers, 2 stupid low offers, and a couple who really want it but need to sell theirs first.0 -

Haven't been on here for ages but thought I'd see if any old faces were still about. Amazingly we have had quite a few viewers since Christmas- I thought it might just be that our EA had got their fingers out but a friend has also had 2 viewers a week for the past 3 weeks for her house so maybe things are picking up slightly, in some areas at least. Anyway, we've had 2 second viewings, one of which brought a ridiculous offer and the other was torn between us and another and eventually went for the other based on area (which I can't say I blame her for). Now a guy from a viewing last week has made an offer - it's below what we said our minimum was (which was 5% below our already reduced asking price) but we are tempted...
Another issue is finding somwhere to buy! We have all but given up on our original potential purchase and have found another, but we haven't even seen it yet because after 2 phonecalls to the EAover the past 10 days, they haven't got back to us- you'd think they didn't want buyers! (no surprise to us as they are our previous useless EA). Apparently the place has been rented out and will be for the next 6 months which may complicate things if we accept this offer...eeeeek, don't know what to do! Don't get me wrong, I am VERY grateful for viewings and offers, but why do things have to be so complicated?!
