LOL, many unrealistic vendors still around, didnt expect to find so many here though.
Price reductions are no good if they are too late and you are chasing the market down. Better wake up because offers are only going in one direction. Those stupid offers this year will be unobtainable next year.
Somebody didn't have their ready brek this morning....0 -
Heaven forbid. What's wrong with renting? ...But if renting scares you...
Nothing's "wrong" with renting, we rented several places before buying our current house. However, we are mortgage free (hooray!) and so don't want to be paying out money in rent which could otherwise be paying a mortgage.Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional :j0 -
On market for 4 weeks two viewings last week, both interested, but 1st one wanted to do a let to buy and can't get finance, 2nd viewing FTB, just had call from EA they have a mortgage in place and are interested, but will not make a decision until weekend after they have looked at other properties. Keep everything crossed for us.0

Thanks! Perhaps you should start a thread to discuss the article on the debate house prices board?
I think my comments about The Sunday Times article was very relevant to pollyzanna's post.
Pollyzanna has found a buyer and is wondering about moving into renting now whilst she tries to get the seller of the house she wants to reduce their asking price.
Hence The Sunday Times article is very relevant to pollyzanna as getting a buyer to complete now appears to be a huge hurdle for most sellers - in fact, getting viewings is a huge hurdle.
If I was selling now and had a buyer ready to exchange and complete I would be grabbing them and not letting them out of my sight. If I needed to rent for a few months or a year whilst the houses I am interested see the economic reality and drop their asking prices then so be it.
Be informed is fore-armed.

As you posted the exact same comments in four different thread yesterday I think we need not mention them here anymore.Thank you all who post.0

As you posted the exact same comments in four different thread yesterday I think we need not mention them here anymore.
What? That The Sunday Times had a big feature yesterday about a coming housing crash in the UK?
That the article interviewed several different estate agents who said that sellers now need to drop their asking prices by 20 percent?
That the article said that the hoped for September surge in buyers has not happened.
Oh, OK. Let's be blind to this and pretend it does not exist. Those sellers who have offers that they are thinking about accepting or declining can carry on cheerfully thinking that any day now, according to EAs and the deluded on here, the September surge of buyers will be knocking down their doors to offer full asking price - hey, even above asking price.
You might feel happy trying to convince others on here that everything is rosy in the garden but I would hate to give that impression to someone and then learn they have their house on the market for the next 12 months.
Be realistic. Those in denial about the current state of the market will only chase the market down. Already there are posts appearing of people who turned down an offer X thousand below their asking price earlier in the year only to now have to reduce their asking price even lower than that one offer.
I remember the early 1990's crash and I remember the same denial around at that time by many sellers. Lots of them ended up losing their homes.
Edit:
It was awful, it was painful, it was stressful, it left people in huge debt and even resulted in divorce and even death for some. I would hate to see it happen again.

OK, I'm gonna bite just this once more and then I'm not engaging with them again.
The sellers on this thread are, in general NOT deluded. They are aware of what the market is like. They are aware of what the press says the market is doing/going to do. They are aware of what the naysayers and wanna-be-buyers think of the market.
They have paid a great deal of attention to their own personal circumstances and the reasons why and when they need to sell. They are the only ones who have a true understanding of this part of the equation. They have then weighed up these needs against the market and they have formed a plan of action that balances what the market is doing against their circumstances.
The purpose of this thread is to offer support when things get difficult. It is a place to rant about the day-to-day frustrations of trying to sell a house. It is not a forum for discussing general house price trends - there is a whole other board for that. We do not need constant reminders of how difficult the current market is - we are living it on a daily basis.0 -

i don't think it is fair to generalize.
our house is the cheapest semi D 3/bed in the whole village. it is only 12 yrs old, all netural, new solid wood floors with off street pking and ready to move in - no work required. BUT STILL we can't sell, loads of positive feedback but only viewers are people who have yet to sell their own.
Even the one offer we did get - they had not sold theres.
So i don't think it is always a case of simply being overpriced.
did we not have this discussion thread only last week anyway.:(Saying Thank You doesn't cost anything :beer:0 -
Here we go yet again. Please note the words 'sellers support network' in this title of this thread - not 'discuss the economy'. We understand what is going on as there are countless other threads in this forum already discussing your post, however this thread is all about support.Thank you all who post.0
