After the catastrophe at AOL and the NTL/Virginmedia, I have been with TT for about 18months now and can honestly say it has been re3ally smooth. The occasional drop-out for an hour or so but I have been really happy so far. No company is perfect but TT have definetely been much better then AOL and NTL etc

Much faster and much, much cheaper......is MSE after all

I think it's a case of, if you know what you're doing / are technically minded then you'll soon realise that TalkTalk is rubbish.

If your internet is just for emails, you probably won't notice any problems, except when something decides to not work and then you phone the inept call centres who insist on going through their pre-written scripts.

I've got half an idea of what I'm doing and am reasonably technically minded and, by and large, I've had very few problems with Talk Talk. The ones I did have were related to initial billing and installation, but they got sorted out - eventually. Apart from that it's fine.

Off the top of my head I can't remember how to do it, but there's a call centre in India and another in Ireland. Go for the one in Ireland!
I've just renewed for 18 months and got three months for free!

I've been with Talk Talk for 18mts and have just renewed for another 18mts. Initially I had a problem with the phone side - was told that the number I dialled was unobtainable when in fact it was obtainable. I spoke to Mumbai on a number of occasions and eventually I was passed over to BT (Although our exchange is unbundled, BT do all the repairs etc). It transpired that having voicemail was causing the problem. As I had an ansaphone on my telphone I had them switch it off and I have had no problems since.

I have the pack which includes international calls so I get all my phone calls including all foreign calls (I have relatives in Canada, Australia and Ireland and call them all the time) line rental and broadband for less than £25 pm. I would recommend them to anyone

  • Someone mentioned earlier on about what happens after 18 months. That's a good point - what does happen? Can you not just let it run on and have the same package as you always had, rather than re-negotiate and get a worse deal?

My initial 18 mts is up and I was contacted to see if I wanted to sign up for another 18 mts. I was given a financial incentive to sign up for another 18 mts (3 mts at half price). I could have just carried on paying by the month if I had wanted.

As mentioned above, LLU gives you a good deal in that you do not have to pay for a BT line but it does mean that if I want to revert to BT (which they keep begging me to do) I will have to pay a steep re-connection charge

When comparing TalkTalk with others remember that in most cases you have to pay for a BT line as well.

    Hi deanos,

If you leave TalkTalk in contract the fee is £70 or the remainder of your contract - whichever is the lesser amount. If you leave out of contract there is no fee. You will need to contact BT for a reverse migration (also refered to as return to donor) but this is not charged as there will be no stop or cease orders on the line.

    Cheers

Keep an eye on the TalkTalk Website but also look on the Carphone Warehouse site too as there are different offeres through different sales channels. If you do want more information nearer to the time feel free to drop me a PM.
