i use the scandanavian crispbreads approx £1 a pack i think they are 2carbs each....instant bread is easy peasy and approx 11carbs for whole loaf

100g Ground Almonds.. u can use less almond and more flax or 50/50
    25g melted butter
    2 eggs
    1 tablespoon cream
    1/2 teaspoon baking powder.
Mix wet ingredients, then add the dry. Pour into whatever container you like- (a lunch box makes it fit exactly into your lunch box afterwards)and nuke for 3 mins ..... u can make lots of variations of this by adding different herbs etc or add in sweetener and lemon or other essence or da vincis if u have it and make it into a cake

i have also made crackers with parmesan, almond flour and cheddar... loads of good recipes on lowcarbfriends.com

i alsso make casseroles still, use leeks instead of onions and put in swede and turnip to bulk it up but with lower carbs then spuds, also tins of tomatoes

oh and mashed swede for bulk (personally cant stand it lol)

checked swede and i find carb count of around 2.5 per 100g which is pretty good

never made the rev rolls so cant compare them to the instant bread but i like the bread which i usually toast

yr welcome.. if u have access to davinci flavoured syrups use one of the flavours as sweeteners and its jus like cake

today i made today 1 minute muffin.. recipe below
1/2 cup of almond flour (can mix half and half flaxmeal)
    1/2 tspn bakin powder
    1tspn cinnamon
    tspn sweetener or davinci syrup
    1 egg
    knob butter
    1egg

mix well and microwave for 1 minute... i made it with banana da vinci and i think it needs some more flavour so might try it with more spice or some cocoa powder but was VERY impressed with the texture etc

I much prefer to eat low carb as I too have much more energy when I do. Unfortunately every few months I go off the rails and have chocolate which starts all other cravings and start feeling yuk again. I am trying to eat little and often so that I have the will power not too give in to temptation.

Although I don't eat much root vegetables from what I have read eating veg such as cauli, onions, peppers etc does not stop good weight loss. One of the main bulking out things to do are to make ssure you have loads of water, this really fills me up.

Anyway here are my bulking out ideas.

When I do a bolognese or chilli con carne I add additional onions, peppers and loads of cooked cabbage. The kids have never even noticed there is cabbage in it as it just blends in.

Shepherds pie could have cabbage in to bulk out with mashed cailiflower on top sprinkled with grated cheese instead of potato.

If you are doing a meat dish a tasty addition to bulk out with is - cauliflower cheese
    (lifted from http://www.low-carb.org.uk/recipe/menu.php?ID=62
Heat 1/2pt Double cream on Stove gently, add heaps of Cheese...
Melt, then pour over cooked cauli, grate cheese on top, bang under the grill
    till cheese is bubbly!

brilliant idea daisy bet it was scrummy.... another idea for pizza base is to mix some cream, egg, grated cheese (can omit this), some garlic and herbs and cook in oven til it sets, then cover as normal with pizza stuff and cook again

the other day i shredded white cabbage very finely and shallow fried it and used it like spag with bolognese sauce

    Hi,

starting a new thread cos I've had an unsuccessful trawl for whoever was talking about finding it tricky to do low-carb cooking on a budget. So I wanted to share with you my fave cheap recipe. Mr Atkins and the bank manager give it top marks! I have it with steamed green beans, and I give it to the non-dieters with basmati rice.

I make loads and freeze it in containers, so this might be too much for you! Halve it if you're new to lentils!

chop 3 large onions and fry in a little olive oil
    add 200g red lentils
add 4 tsp garlic powder (v. cheap if you have an Asian supermarket near you)
    2 chillies
    tsp salt
    heaped tbsp whole cumin seeds
    (v. cheap if you have an Asian supermarket near you)

stir it all in the oil for a min. or so to release the flavours, then start adding the water. You'll need to add loads (put it in your biggest pan to start with!). Basically just boil and add water til it's all gone to mush! Looks worse than it tastes I promise... Add more or less of the seasonings according to your taste as you go along.

I make it for 23p a serving. Reckon this is the cheapest filling meal I know of.

    Hi weezl74,

I've added your post into the low carb on a budget thread as it helps to keep all the suggestions together.
