You could still make soup with it, but, yes, you are right, it would need to be used that day.

However, you could use it as "stock" in other dishes to bulk it out - personally, I would do this - have done this and lived to tell the tale.

As I was taught on here, use your senses - sight, taste, smell and common.

At the end of the day, look at it this way: at the moment, you plan to bin it.

You could defrost it, boil it and potentiallly get another couple of meals from it.

    I know what I would do ;)
  • I have frozen stock, de-frosted it and made soup, and then re-froze some of that soup and I am still alive to tell the tale! I also always go by sight, smell and taste.

  • Goodness yes - I usually make a big batch of stock, cool it quickly and then freeze for use later. When I come to use it I don't even always bother defrosting it first - I just shove it in the pan and leave it to melt! Enjoy your soup!

  • I freeze my stock as well, I also freeze all the lovely juices from roast beef and make a lovely beef broth from that too.

    Hello there
Just a quickie - I made chicken stock over a week ago and left it in the fridge in a tupperware instead of freezing it. Will it be ok to use for soup or should I chuck it? (very annoyed with myself!!)

    Thanks!
  • I would get rid of it, I would only keep for a couple of days in the fridge.

I'd taste it and then decide - personally I'd keep it unless it was green or fizzing but I am a bit extreme!
