It's because you are now using different firmware i.e. Telstra connection manager.LED indication - Modem statusOrange - Power on. Not registered on the 2G or 3G networkGreen solid - Registered on the 2G network
Green blinking - Active data transfer on the 2G network
Blue solid - Registered on the 3G network
Blue blinking - Active data transfer on the 3G network
Red solid - Roaming status
Red blinking - Active data transfer in roaming status
"Green Blinking" should indicate an active data transfer in the 2G network, while i noticed on my unlocked key that it's "Red Blinking" that indicates a gsm/gprs conection...According to the table instead, a "Red Blinking" light should indicate an active data trasfer in roaming status, but it's not correct...Why?0 -
mikefarnham wrote: »So, here I am. Have topped up £10 at atm. HSDPA O2 card (O2 mobile broadband pay and go usb modem sim card) in pda, no credit arrived. Is this because top up credit only recognised by ordinary mobile sims? I think I have probably just wasted £10!! Please would you clarify this for me? I had assumed (never do that) probably wrongly that these cards could both be used for the web and to make calls, probably because somewhere it referred to using unused internet credit for calls. Perhaps I misunderstood?!
Thanks for your forthcoming assistance,
Mike.
Furthermore, having registered the card and phoned customer services I was told the top up had failed, probably because O2 will not let you top up data cards without using some way or charging you if you exceed the data allowance; greedy of them really because if a phone sim can cut you off when your credit is up so, presumably, could a data sim. Anyway, studying my bank balance and no refund yet as the very pleasant young lady said there would be. They say no refunds on their conditions but as the top up was not credited.....!
So chaps, further suggestions for topping up without opening oneself up to extortionate excess charges much appreciated. Having got a free dongle, when it arrives I do not want anything else for nothing but, it would appear, current arrangements make it all too easy to be hit hard in the pocket unknowingly even if one does not go abroad and watch BBCi all day (hypothetically of course but finding a good free proxy server to do this is another story!!)

3. I neither seem to get any helpful answers about economical connections in Spain. Off to Lanzarote soon and would love to know if I will be able to use the "unlocked" dongle with a local economical sim. I bet not!!
Thanks for your help and when I have got it sorted I hope I can put something of use back in.
Mike.

Just what I wanted to know.
Of course, at this rate, great to get you out of a hole but quite pricey!
Have a good weekend,
Mike.
Useful website here.
Shame that our new Italian friend did not come up with useful info.0 -

p.s.: ah,wait a moment guy...I DON'T WANT SOMETHING FOR NOTHING!!
Since they only deliver to UK addresses and each only once, how do you propose that you get it at the same price?
Do you think that someone will use their allocation and then send it for free to someone who already has one?
How else do you expect to get it for £4.95?
So I ask you again...what are you thinking!?0 -
All of these dongles have now gone unfortunately.0

Gone? Still available to order.0

Thanks for info Donnie.
I tried to order one for the missus on Saturday but the site would not let her register, presumably because we share the same address and they see that as more than one per customer? Then I thought of registering her next door but realised they will only deliver to the credit card holder's address!
Suggestions anyone please?!
Best wishes,

Get a relative or friend to order one for you.
Obviously from a different address.0
