Elle, is there a milk bank anywhere near you? If you chat with the nurses about how to go about getting Rhys milk from there if you just can't get enough out that might help you to relax a bit which in turn may help you get more out?

I did ask a few weeks ago but donor milk costs the hospital £100 per litre so they limit it to the most needy of causes which usually means babies born even earlier than Rhys who can't tolerate formula at all. They said Rhys *can* tolerate formula, it's just not the best thing for him right now with all his medical problems so they didn't entertain the idea any more. Will ask again on the ward round if it's before I go out..

Domperidome is quite commonly prescribed for increasing milk supply, I'm sure once you've explained the situation the Dr will prescribe it for you :)

I woke up really full on one side this morning and managed to express 150ml in about 10 mins... The bit where the valve is on the pump filled up so quick when I released the handle it squirted back out the other way! Think Caitlyn must of not fed so much last night for that to happen... My left boob is all tender from it now though... Shame you're not closer Elle... I'd give it you to smuggle in for Rhys ;)

Elle do they have sreens that they use for kangaroo care. When Rose was there they would also put up the screens so you could express next to her too if you wanted to.

Good luck, im thinking of you both x

Could it be a tummy upset? My hv said dark green poo can indicate that
She only has my milk and nothing else goes in her mouth so I think the only thing that can upset her tummy is something I've eaten... I mentioned it to my health visitor yesterday but she said if it's going back to yellow afterwards not to worry about it... Bit difficult not to worry about it when your baby is all distressed though... And to be honest, I think my tutor would know more about the subject than my health visitor... She didn't seem that knowledgeable yesterday...

Have got some new pics of him on the camera - no swelling now and looking so much more baby-like - so will put them on Facebook tomorrow and post the link :)
glad he is doing so well, cant wait to see more pics!

another bad nights sleep, LO kept fussing and OH kept snoring  didnt actually have to get up and do a night feed though! never mind though, OH is off work tomorrow so he will deal with the fusspot tonight!
i have completely given up on his basket now, he likes to sleep in a star shape and his poor elbows and knees touch the sides so he cant move at all!
we all keep waking up cos LO keeps rolling over towards one of us. i know you can get those things you can put in your bed to stop them rolling over but i dont want to get one as it will only be for a couple of weeks til the cot arrives, do you think a rolled up sheet under our bedsheet in a kind of U shape would be ok for a temporary thing? not rolled up too big and bulky mind, just enough to stop him rolling over?

filled out all the forms for our house last night, seems very real now :T i was going to post a link but they've already taken it off!

Try and remember his tummy is only tiny, breastmilk is the perfect food for him but easily digested so he can be hungry again an hour after his last feed... Its also very early days for him yet... He doesn't know night time is for sleeping just yet... But he'll get there, just bear with him :)
