Tried all 3 of the big stores in Nottingham and not one of these DVD players in site. Doesn't even look like they had them in stock at all. Very dissappointed- wasted about £4 in petrol!

Looks like the old Cyberhome model that gave problems about a year ago with its power supply. Maybe that's been sorted out now though.
  • First post - be gentle!!

Just been to my local Tesco Extra, they had lots of these in stock, but there were two different DVD players for <£18; the Tesco Value branded ones - as shown in the image on the first page of this thread (selling for £17.92) and the Technika one AlanS mentioned.

I picked up the Technika one and brought it home; AlanS' tip on making it multi-region definitely works; I'm watching a Region 1 DVD I bought in the US as I type this.

BTW; the increase in price mentioned elsewhere must be a recent thing as I noticed that my Tesco store had two different prices on show when I picked mine up £17.97 and £24.97. When I paid at the till, I was charged £24.97. Remembering Tesco's promise to refund in full and let you keep the product if the price charged does not match that shown on the shelf I nipped round to customer services. Result - a multi-region DVD player for £0.00! I should add that they quickly removed the £17.97 shelf strips after they had processed my refund.

If you do see them in stock, check the shelf strips!

Welcome to the site XaghraBoy! :)

I can't beleave they are putting the price up already! Didn't waste much time.
  • We've just updated the original post. The Value DVD Player has been reduced to £17.47. This is a different player to the £24 one others have mentioned

Just to say, a friend bought the £18 Asda one & hacked it from the remote using a code off the internet & now it plays anything! I'm thinking of getting one... He got his from Asda in Glos.

Spotted 2 piles of Tesco Value DVD players in a Coventry store, 2 different sels (£17.97 & £17.92). Hoped they'd charge me the higher price, but unfortunately it went through at 17.92.

It's something I'd been meaning to treat myself to for a while, so not too upset about having to actually pay for it. :)
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

    I posted this a while back .... it's a Technika 103

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=1692483#post1692483

Details on how to make this multi-region are also included in my post.

I've yet to find a DVD which it won't play ..... worth every 1,797 pennies I paid for it !!!

Just bought tesco value dvd player - it doesn't seem to be a technica 103 and the hack doesn't work. any ideas?
