Just bought Tesco Value Dvd player. Doesn't seem to be a Technica 103 and hack doesn't work. Any ideas?
Thanks0 -
The Tesco value dvd player is different to the Technina 103. The Technica 103 is around £23. I braught this over the weekend, did the multi region hack as provided on this forum, and all worked fine. I just came to realise yesterday that dvd's converted from DivX, Xvid, vcd, and svcd don't work on this player. I will be returning the player back. No need to have a dvd that won't play the basic formats.0

I've just found that the Tesco Value DVD player pictured at the start of this thread is a Technika 1030. I also found the unlock codes, Here
How to convert your Technika DVD-1030 player into a multi-region compatible machine.
To change the region on this player
1. Press the Open button on your remote control to open the drive tray
2. Press the Setup button on your remote control
3. Press the Next button on your remote control
4. Press the Next button on your remote control
5. Press the Next button on your remote control
6. Press the Next button on your remote control
7. The currently selected region should be displayed on the onscreen display
8. Using the Left button on your remote control, change the region to 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or 255 for multi-region playback
9. Press the Setup button on your remote control
It seems to work but I havn't got another region disk to test it.0 -
The above code posted by Nacnud does indeed work on the Tesco Value dvd player. Thanks very much for that.
So, for under 18 notes, you get a region-free dvd player and, for those that like a good sing-a-long, it also plays cd-g discs. Obviously it does not have mic inputs, but you can do that side of things through your hi-fi.0 -
I have just tried the unlock and now it won't play anything
Just sits on 'loading' for ages and then says 'wrong disk'. I don't know whether it was the unlocking or whether it just died, before I tried unlocking it, it took 2 tries to play a dvd.
I'll be taking it back tomorrow0 -
does it play dvd-r?0

I’ve just bought the Tesco1030 cheapie DVD player and successfully changed it to region free thanks to this forum. However, does anyone know how to remove or change the Tesco logo that appears when you switch the player on – its so tacky!
