I cannot be bothered to contact them, they are so incompetent that I do not want to have any more to do with them.
I will write it of to experience and use another internet glasses provider.
I recomend all other people tempted by their offers to avoid thgem at all costs.0 -
Any firm can make a mistake. Before you complain, surely it's fair to give them a chance to rectify the situation. Criticise them if they fail to satisfy you then, but the sign of a good company is how they deal with problems, not just whether they have a problem in the first place.0

Never ever buy from Select specs.
I ordered a quite expensive pair of reactalights and was told they were shipped on 17/11/09 with a 10 day delivery,I wanted them to use whist I was overseas working.
They had not arrived by 28/12/09 when I left.
They were finally delivered on 04/01/2010.
I came back to UK for a break 2 days ago and tried the glasses, on the second wearing the lens fell out as the screw holding the frame together was either not tightened or had not been put in correctly. As I was riding my bike at the time the lens fell in the road and was run over.
All I can say is rubbish delivery and rubbish quality.AVOID at all cost.I cannot be bothered to contact them, they are so incompetent that I do not want to have any more to do with them.

Sorry to hear this. As we're not sure what your order was we can't give an accurate answer to your problem. Due to the delivery time I'm suggesting that these were shipped from Hong Kong? If this is the case then we had some delivery delays around this period due to the Christmas rush and the vast quantity of items that get shipped out of China (that seems to be most things these days!). We informed our customers of this by email and on our website.
It's unfortunate to hear about the lens falling out, it sounds like a simple case of the screw not being tightened sufficiently rather than a fault with the frame or lens.
If you would like us to help resolve this issue you will need to contact our support team through the following link: http://www.selectspecs.com/customer-services/. Please log in and submit an email for the relevant order.
Kind regards,
James

Hello,
I'm currently looking into buying glasses and have found SelectSpecs to offer competitive prices. However, having stumbled across this thread, i'm unnerved by all the difficulties members here have experienced with delivery times.
I have noted though, that most of these problems appear to be occurring with the multi-frame deal that is being shipped in from HK, and i also noted that some frames are held in the UK office of SS which apparently deliver far quicker.
I'm currently deciding between two frames at SS (avg of £160each) and i have a standard prescription of -1.5 in both eyes so nothing complex. Would i be crazy in ordering these frames from SS especially considering as i need the frames by Thurs 11th of Feb (as i'm going abroad on the Fri eve for some time)? Has anyone experienced a quick turnaround, or a poor turnaround with the designer frames too? What does the SS Rep have to say about this?
The frames are also available at Iris-Spectacles (slightly more expensive) and they have advised me that they can get me the frames for 2 weeks time and the benefit that i can pick up from their store. I'm leaning towards paying a premium for a reliable in-store pick-up but could be swayed the other way.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Many Thanks...0 -

Hi Aura,
Yes, you are correct, our £5 glasses and own brand frames are shipped from Hong Kong, and these normally take around 14 days to be delivered from date of order (depending on prescription of course - your prescription is non complex so there should be no real delays).
If you are ordering a designer frame these can normally be delivered within 1-2 weeks with your prescription (providing no tints are required), but this depends on the frame and availability but we would inform you asap. We suggest you place your order as soon as possible to ensure the frame is available so we can get it to you by the 11th Feb.
We can ship Special Delivery if required for an additional charge but these are guaranteed to arrive next day.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
James

Just by way of support . . .
I have had two orders (4 pairs total) with Select since last summer, and I have no complaints whatsoever. The glasses were IMHO outstanding value for money - not the strongest construction, but for the price, really excellent.
Granted they both took a little longer for delivery, 3 - 4 weeks, but what the hell?
First was after the initial promo by MSE and knowing this website/mailing, I'm sure they must have been absolutely deluged with orders. Second was pre-christmas so again delays are to be expected.
I never expected them by return mail, so I was happy to wait patiently.
As for poster 'rotate' above, who had trivial complaint, then refused to give them a chance to rectify, and then posts 'Avoid at all costs' looks to me like someone looking for an excuse to gripe.
I would (shall) order again, but would probably wait about 4 weeks before raising any serious concerns about non-delivery. C'mon, give 'em a chance. The bankers stole my pension (and everyone else's). It should have earned a lot of money, but they took their bonus pot first.0 -
Hi all,
Does anyone have any experience in requesting a different lens size from selectspecs.com? I've chosen a pair of specs (Diesel DV 0085) that I know come in another lens size to the one offered.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
This isn't a problem, please just let us know in your order and we'll let you know if we can get the size you require. Just FYI, we're in the process of developing our website and we will be offering individual frame sizes in the very near future along with some other significant changes.
Kind regards,
James

Last year I went for this cheap specs offer to get a spare pair. I noticed a funny smell coming from the glasses after I wore them for a while and identified the nose pads as the issue. I also noticed my eyes watering a little more than usual. But I only had them on for a short time and they were a spare pair after all.
I then had to put my everyday glasses in to get new lenses so I started using the select specs glasses continuously. But the smell got very strong and my eyes were watering and sore. I couldn't continue to use them. I was also worried about the effect on me.
I emailed them and after a bit of negotiation they agreed to RMA the specs. I sent the specs on the 23th March which cost me a further £1.08.
Then nothing back
I emailed on 20th May but no reply
I emailed again on the 28th May and again no reply
So why are they ignoring me? They have my money and my specs. They caused me sore eyes.
OK for £8.50 it's not worth my while going to court but still this very bad behaviour for a private company.
Also are there any Chemists out there that could help identify the chemical used on the nose supports. The familiar smell was like what you once got with cheap kids waterproof sandals or jelly shoes but isn't around anymore (probably for health reasons). I tried to google for information and all I could find was a Chinese site that described in poor English how these old chemicals could cause irritations (presumably of the bare feet).
any help would be much appreciated.0 -
I just got a reply from Select Specs:
" unfortunately your glasses were never received by us, did your parcel have a tracking number"
Thanks James for reading my post and looking into this as I assume it's not coincidence that I got the reply to my 28th May email the day after my posting here.
BTW, according to Royal Mail statistics, the chances of them really being lost is 1000:1
