Whilst I don't want to rub it in for those poor souls still waiting for their specs to arrive, but I have to say that my third and fourth pairs have now arrived. I guess I'm one of the luckier ones, though my second pair did take an age to come.
The other pairs have all turned up in just over three weeks from placing the order and at £5 per pair, I am very pleased. Good luck to all those still waiting.0 -
Thanks for letting us know stickbun9. You give us hope.0

Hi guys,
Just to give you an update. All orders shipped from Hong Kong from the 3rd of December have been dispatched by registered mail - we have had responses from customers saying that items shipped from this date have been arriving. Any items sent before this date were shipped via a standard service and may still take a while to arrive - we apologise for this delay if you are unfortunate enough to be affected but your order should arrive with you shortly.
As a personal experiment to see how our delivery compares to other businesses mailing out of Hong Kong, we ordered a CD from a well known online CD/DVD/Game retailer who uses the same shipping service as we do, this was dispatched on the 1st December but this item has still not arrived some 15 days later. It is clear that these shipping delays are not just local to us and are some what exacerbated by the Christmas rush that started in November.
Kind regards,

:jUpdate. I have received my glasses today (ordered begining of November), and I am over the moon with them. Much nicer than I expected, and i can see perfectly, bonus!

Was kept informed through email about my order and it arrived only a few days later than they said. Happy customer, would use again despite delay.

Hi, I ordered glasses 1st week November and was concerned last week re non delivery. Selectspecs replied to my enquiry and advised if were not received by 16th december they would issue replacements. Just to let you know the glasses were received December 14th and are perfect. In light of above posts, I wsould be interested to know if all Hong Kong shipments are to be sent registered as standard from now on, or is this a temporary measure in light of the Christmas Period etc.0

I ordered 2 pairs of specs for a total of £13.50 on the 7th December, had an email on the 11th for one pair and the 14th for the other. Strangely the second pair arrived today, but I think that is just the odd way the postal system works. Just had to say though, that I am over the moon with the quality of the lenses and the frames look great and are sturdy. I can honestly say that these beat any that I have had from the High Street opticians!0

I last posted in this thread on 22/11/09 complaining about it taking 7 weeks to deliver my glasses, but because they were such good value for money I decided to give Selectspecs another try. This time I ordered 4 pairs for different members of the family, all different prescriptions and frames.
I ordered them on the 9/12/09, they were shipped on the 16/12/09 all in one parcel, left Hong Kong Post on the 18/12/09. entered the Royal Mail system on the 21/12/09 and delivered on 24/12/09. A total time of 15 Days which is a huge improvement on last time. The improvement was in both the making time and the delivery time, probably due to the use of registered mail which also allows some limited tracking of the parcel.
I certainly wouldn't hesitate in using them again or in recommending them to friends. I hope they keep using the registered mail though.
Cheers

Remember that the Distance Selling Regulations say that the consumer has a right not to accept a revised delivery timescale and to cancel on those grounds. This right is not affected by the exceptions in other terms to custom-made items which Selectspecs try to infer.
Hi pooh bear 138
Please can you advise further re your post above and how I can get my money refunded? I still haven't received glasses ordered more than 6 weeks ago. I've emailed SelectSpecs to say I want a refund and they just keep sending the same "standard" reply email saying they will re-order them. They are now not responding to emails at all.
I will never deal with this company again as a result of their appalling customer service and had to buy glasses elsewhere as they were needed for driving and I could wait no longer.
Any advice on obtaining a refund would be very helpful.
Anyone else planning to order from Selectspecs prepare yourself for a very long wait and the possibility you will in the end pay and never receive your glasses and then have your emails ignored.0 -
Never ever buy from Select specs.
I ordered a quite expensive pair of reactalights and was told they were shipped on 17/11/09 with a 10 day delivery,I wanted them to use whist I was overseas working.
They had not arrived by 28/12/09 when I left.
They were finally delivered on 04/01/2010.
I came back to UK for a break 2 days ago and tried the glasses, on the second wearing the lens fell out as the screw holding the frame together was either not tightened or had not been put in correctly. As I was riding my bike at the time the lens fell in the road and was run over.
All I can say is rubbish delivery and rubbish quality.AVOID at all cost.0 -
