Can anyone help me with an issue in Scotland?
Basically my bf had a false start at an HND course when he was 18. He is now 28 and has applied for another HND.
SAAS have informed him that they will not pay his fees as he "already holds an HND". Now he doesnt actually have the HND due to a false start and when he phoned SAAS they have told him that the college didnt inform them (back in 2002) that he left the course after a couple of weeks and also that its been put down as HND year 2 which is incorrect as that college has never even done a 2 year HND in that subject. As far as saas are concerned he completed the HND and they will not pay his fees for another HND.
Is there any way we can sort this? The former HND doesnt even show up in his mysql as he wasnt there long enough to sit the exams.

Try contacting the college and ask for written confirmation.0

Hi,
I was wondering are there any income support options available for PhD students who have secured a funding.
Eg Professional and Career Development Loans?
Many Thanks0 -

Hi slcworker,
I'd really appreciate it if you can clarify something for me.
I have a student loan from 2001. I'm thinking to do an initial teacher training course 2012. Before I add to my student loan debt I'm wondering. If I inherit money, or receive money from a life insurance policy, will student loan repayments be taken from this? I know student loan repayments are taken from unearned income declared on a self assessment form but I'm finding it difficult to clarify what constitutes unearned income.
Thank you in advance,
Julie0 -
It looks ok, although your ADG, and subsequent PLA, are at SFE's discretion in accordance with Paragraph 43(4) of The Education (Student Support) Regulations 2011.
Because it's at their discretion, I cannot advise further.0 -

Student loan repayments are based on income, not capital0 -
You'll need to explain those details anyway, so put as much in a covering letter as you can.0
