A what if for now with about an 80% chance of happening. But what happens if you want to change courses to a different university?

I'm signed up to a 2 year HND but I'm now thinking of doing a different BA(Hons).

How would I change the financial stuff? I'd still be living at home so that wouldn't change, so I guess it's just the fees loan that would change?

  • I'm wanting to change what account my loan gets paid into, do I have to give them a set amount of notice (like four weeks before it is due to be paid in) or anything like that?
  • How can my daughter speed up getting her loan/grant application processed?
They are saying it is delayed by 2-3weeks due to our local authority , have spoken to local authority and they have delayed it due to dsa application being held up (which was because they forgot to send out the forms).
She will have to pay her rent by the 9th Oct (starts next week) , and if the money is not there she will incurr fees from her uni and from her bank .spoken to uni and they have agreed to defer payment if it does not come through by end of september but will charge her for this once the money is through £35. But she will have no money to live on until this money comes through, I am an exbankrupt and so is her stepfather ,we are on low wages and have no access to credit so can not help her much. Hoping as an "insider" you may be able to give me a clue as to how to speed things up?
    Thanks in advance

  • If I have no money and my parents can but won't support me at all, how do I finance myself? It's a possible scenario so all help would be much appreciated!
  • My accommodation costs exceed my loan entitlement. Am I eligible for any extra finance options?

Don't know about dsa, but many loans in general are being held up this year, allegedly due to slc error. I've been told that we just have to wait.

    Hi,

I was wondering, i am currently a student doing a course i hate. I have been at university and failed the first year twice. I though i would be able to get through it but i just havent. I have also had some health problems and a fairly serious car crash. Anyway i wish to change my course now, and i am determined to do well. However i am now getting a little worried about the finacial implications. I normally get my fees paid for by the lea, at £1200ish pounds. I also get a loan and a grant of around £300, but this year my figures have come low. The tution fees are a loan as opposed to a grant, and ive got my normal loan but not my grant even though my parents earning have changed very little?
Any help would be great thanks!!

  • Hiya,

Here's hoping you can help me...

I'm going to be living at home and commuting to uni everyday rather than living in Student Housing. Is there any kind of help available towards travel costs as Uni is about an hours drive away. I've looked EVERYWHERE on the loans website and can't find anything!! HELP!!!

    Thanks.

p/s I'm a 3rd year student. don't know if that helps or not!!

  • Hi, I'm a graduate and I've been paying back my loan for a couple of years and would love to know how much I still owe and how much interest i'm paying! I have only ever had one statement, in 2005, I called the SLC a few times earlier this year and when i finally got through to someone they checked my address and said they would send a statement but they never did! Any advice?
    Thank you

There are many students in this position - what they do is take out the maximum student loans to which they are entitled, and work part-time during term-time (full-time during the holidays). It IS do-able!
