Student loans aren't affected by your credit rating.0 -

True, but also artful needs to realise that Open University degrees aren't covered by the 'Student Finance' loans and fees because it's not expected that you'll be studying full-time. Best place to look for details of what is available is on OU website, AFAIK.
He can't get maintenance funding from the OU but the funding for fees switches to loans from this September.0 -
Just a little update from me, my loan suddenly got sorted after a letter to my MP who was very helpful - so at least I have some money. Still fighting to get the grant sorted, trying to find all my documents from 08/09 to give to the solicitor to prove I am estranged from my mum.
I ll keep fighting till I get what I'm entitled too.

My daughter has decided that university wasn't for her. She was very unhappy there and i fullysupport her decision to leave. We have notified the university that she is leaving. We have £3000 to pay back for halls accommodation for the rest of the year unless we can get someone to take over her room, and I have already had to make an arrangement to pay this off at £50 permonth. My daughter has fortunately got some casual work, but it doesn't pay a lot. We have also received some letters from the student loans company saying that the want £11400 paying back to them immediately, and we are really confused by all the different figures they've sent us. My daughter got the full allowance because i'm not on a huge income, and now we are really confused as to where to turn next?
Please can anyone help?0 -
She'll need to repay what the SLC are asking for, and all that is detailed in the contract she signed when applying. I do assume that she read it?
She needs to contact the SLC as soon as possible. In doing so, they'll probably agree she can repay what she owes in installments. Leave it, the SLC have started taking court action more recently.0 -

I presume this is a typo? They're asking for £1140? Either way, if she's been paid money she's now not entitled to because she's left the course, she needs to repay it now. When I had an overpayment to repay, I rang them and told them I could afford £5 a month towards it which they accepted. Once I was working again, I increased the payments and cleared the overpayment. The letter is very aggressive in tone I think but if she rings them, they will be reasonable.Sealed Pot Challenge #239

It refers to just being back in the UK by the first day of the academic year, which is usually by the 1st September, unless the course starts in January.
was settled in the UK and ordinarily resident in England but left to exercise a right of residence elsewhere in the EEA or Switzerland,
and
is returning to the UK to start a course on or after 1 September 2008
Thanks in advance0 -
