Hey,
Sorry if i'm replying to somebodys post, im new to this and i dont know how to post new forums.I'm applying for student finance and iv'e recieved an email saying that i need to supply my last 3 years P60's because i have been self supported for the last 3 years. The problem is i don't have any... student finance told me to send a tax office statement of earnings for the last 3 years instead as this would be acceptable. How do i go about getting this?
Have you lost them or didn't you have them in the first place?0 -
Have you had jobs over the past 3 years or living on scraps or what?
Statement of Earnings is like a P60. Your company just gives a record of what you have earnt.
They need to see you have been supporting yourself, so how have you been doing it?
Its abit of both really; ive been working as a joiner, ive been working for the last 2 years but i was studying joinery at college in 2007. I was living off scraps for the first year, then on low income for the last 2 years because of my lack of experience. And to answer ONW's question, i think i have recieved a couple but i have no idea where they are. I don't think ive recieved a P60 for each of the last 3 years though. I think ive lost 2 and not recieved 1... or vise versa0 -

you need to contact your local tax office (http://search2.hmrc.gov.uk/kbroker/hmrc/locator/locator.jsp?type=1) and ask them to provide a statement of earnings for each of the relevant tax years
it is worth noting that that SFE will turn you down if you earned less than £7k in each year, there is no basis in the rules for this, they're just making it up as they go along, if you get turned down, you will need to get your student advice team involved (either at your current college or at the uni you're going to study with) to get them to fight it on your behalf0 -

Did you start or finish your joinery course in 2007? If it started that year, was it full or part time?0 -
Student Finance NI don't want my 2009/10 financial support details for next year's application, they want 08/09?!? (The details they already took for last years application) Rang them and this is not a mistake on the website. Anyone know why? Seems a bit odd!0

They changed the dates they take records from due to delays in applications because of delays in getting P60s etc. so instead of using the latest tax year, they moved it back a year.0 -
Hi, I was hoping to get some advice for my girlfriend. She's currently in the 2nd year of a foundation degree and has been accepted onto the 3rd year which will convert it into a full degree. She has been a full time Teaching Assistant for 4 years, and a company have funded the fees for these first 2 years. Unfortunately they wont fund her for the 3rd year which leaves us to find £3k in fees plus her income is going to drop as she's going to have to give up working one day a week due to the increased workload of the 3rd year/classes schedule.
She is 22 years old, but didn't go straight into higher education (as mentioned she's been working full time for 4 years). During this time she has had spells living with her parents but was basically supporting herself and paying them rent. Until Jan 08 she lived with her parents, from Jan 08-Sep 08 she lived in a flat, she moved back to her parents for amonth, she lived in a flat from Oct 08 - Sep 09 and since then has lived with me.
Because of her full time work and long periods iving away from her parent's we are confused as to exactly how she should complete the student loan application. Is there any chance of a grant?0 -

She can still apply for Student Loan (Tuition and Maintenance). Not sure about the grant though. The grant is based on 2 things; Non Independent (so went straight to uni, like myself) or Independent (3+ years living away supporting yourself). The grants for Non I. are based upon parents income. The grant for I is based upun hers and yours.
However, the fact she has lived at home in between is a bloody nuisance. I am not sure what info SLC need. They will want P60s and P45s etc. to show she has been working and I think this would be enough, I suspect they don't want to see rent agreements and so fourth.
However, she needs to apply ASAP. Last year there were delays as it is. If I were her I would be applying for Independent Status as she has been working for 3 years now.
You might want to wait for Taiko, student_advisor or ONW though.0 -
where she was living is broadly irrelevant as long as she was earning sufficient to support herself, if she has been working full-time for 4 years, this will be easy - just provide 3 P60s, job done!0

So she would not need to give details of her parent's income, just hers? Her income is currently ~£14k, which will drop because of having to reduce her hours. Is she likely to receive any grant?0
