Disregard of just over £1100 per child dependent on you. If they also hold an award from SFE, any calculated contribution is split between them
  • Hi.

My son is in his first year and did not apply for the student grant just the loan. However our household income has fallen due to the recession and I think he would have been entitled to a small grant. Can he apply in retrospect?

Also my husband is now on a salary sacrifice scheme and I do not know what income the student grant next year will be based on. Will it be his nominal salary or the lower sacrifice salary?

    Thank you

phone them up , or ask your son to chat with the student finance adviser in uni, there is a chance that you can reclaim the student grant you didnt apply depends on the circumstances.

Need to download a current income form for the 09/10 year from the website and send that in. For next year, it'll be based on the 08/09 tax year, and it'll be the gross taxable figure on the P60.
  • My husband was put on 3 day working from March 09 to Feb 10 and last year when applying for student finance we filled in a current income form and our daughter got increased grant. This month husband has been told that he will be made redundant in 12 weeks time but has been put back on 5 days until his finish date. Job situation is pretty bad around here and although he hopes to get work I worry that finances will be pretty stretched if he doesn't get a job quickly. Does anyone know if I claim on a current income form now, as it would appear our our income has increased from last year, or do I wait until he has been made redundant and then inform them? Do I include this information about his pending redundancy on the application?
