another 80%-er!
well done mrs T!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Ok, there isn't too much direct info regarding Menstruation and VLCD's.
The general consensus is that you will likely experience changes directly attributable to the diet as your diet does directly affect your hormone levels.
Depending on whether the report is carried out by a VLCD lover or hater, these changes are either minimised or exageratted.
The following extracts are cut from other sites, to be honest they don't really offer much help either!
From a Post on Minimins
been to docs and they agree its the diet, something to do with extra hormones stored in my fat cells, which i been burning hence the release of extra hormones and constant period, oh joy!!!!
From the Ligher Life Website
Hormones that govern the menstrual cycle in women are mostly found in fat between the waist and the knees. The balance of these hormones can alter slightly whilst losing weight. Due to this, while on LighterLife women may find no change in their periods or that they temporarily become:-
More or less frequent.
Heavier or lighter.
- Stop.
Obese women have increased risks of:-
No periods (Amenorrhea).
Infrequent periods (Ligomenorrhea).
- Excessively heavy periods (Menorrhagia).
Excess weight can also reduce fertility. So remember, women may become more fertile as they lose weight.
******
Alf, I think three months is a little excessive and I think you should check it out with the doc. Whilst the Lighter Life comments are true, there can be other side effects of continual bleeding, and you should be checked for anemia, if your hormones are up the shoot, it can give you horrible mood swings and depression. The diet is likely to have some effect, but should settle over time. I know you have been off and on with the wedding and everything, but three months is a long time. It could just be all the changes you have had going on, and the diet's just a part of it all.
And on a much more cheerful note :

Hellooooo, right, I need to get back on the wagon quick because all I have done this weekend is eat rubbish and drink wine.
So please can I join in the 100% thing from tomorrow?
I wore my dress on my date last night and it was sooooo nice not to have to worry about whether or not my belly looked fat in it. :j Once I recover from my hangover, I feel like I'll be really motivated to give it my best this week!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is a lso a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable).. And a pork chop can give you 100%20of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! .... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You
should only be doing sit-ups if=2 0you want a bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!
Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.
And remember:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO, What a Ride"
AND......
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart a ttacks than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
CONCLUSION
Eat and drink what you like.Speaking English is apparently what kills you.0 -

If you dont know where you are going... Any road will take you there :rotfl:0 -
I feel like a fraud for the smileys and halo. I was only good because there was no goodies in the house
I feel reallytoday.
Just had a go on the treadie, but didnt do too well. Only managed to go 1.5k. Got way too hot, and am now limping again from my hip. Less than 3 weeks to go till Leeds and cant back out now because I have been sponsored. Not looking good ehh
Also, the treadie is beside a huge mirror, and looking at me wasnt nice at all. I'm wondering whether to go back to SS until the race, in the hope that I'll look a bit better, and be able to manage a bit better if I'm lighter.
Feel dead fed up :mad:Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:
