Hi Tara welcome to the mad house
To be honest i wouldnt touch the pepsi or coke atall in any form ... water all the way or black tea/coffee which you can add a sweetner to but nothing else ...
I think the flavourings are from the 3rd week but then your only allowed a certain amount per day.if you follow what it says in the book then you cant go wrong
.. the first few days are always the worst due to hunger etc but just keep drinking the water, take painkilers if needed (you may get headaches) .. and most of all keep yourself occupied, come chat here, have baths early nights anything atall until Ketosis kicks in
Good LuckHoping to be a thinner me in 2010!0 -
Hi Tara
They say that you shouldn't have any fizzy drinks as they contain citric acid which can knock you out ketosis (I say - can, there is probably people out there who are fine drinking it) the only fizzy drinks which don't contain citric acid are the "zero" range - ie coke zero, dr pepper zero , sprite zero etc. These contain malic acid instead which shouldn't knock you out of ketosis but can lead to you feeling hungrier (I'm not to sure why, by biology knowledge goes as far as getting a B in my GCSE's, lol) I have seen 2 flavoured waters which don't contain citric acid - Perfectly clear still - Red apple, and a fizzy perfectly clear - I can remember which one it is sorry - I just know that I don't like it so only bought it the once.
You are allowed Cambridge Water Flavouring from week 3 (or day 15 to be exact) but you're only allowed 1 level spoonful a day (I add my spoonful to 1.5 litres of water) The cambridge water flavourings are available in orange (personally this tastes more lemony than orange - but I don't like it - I do however make THE NICEST jelly with it) Berry - I like this one but haven't made a jelly with it yet (will do one tonight and report back tomorrow) or a vegatable one - I've never tasted it but apparently its useful to make stock with if you're on SS+ (having an evening meal)
TBH Tara once you get the water bug you wont crave pop. I use to be the biggest coke fiend it was the only thing I drank as I don't like tea, coffee or milk and I'm ashamed to say I gave up diet pop when I got pregnant and only stopped drinking full sugar pop when I started Cambridge (my poor teeth) and I had a bit of a nightmare for the first week but now I don't miss it at all. I even had a weekend off last weekend and still chose to drink water (although this was heavily influenced by the ridiculous Dublin prices for soft drinks)
The hardest thing with this diet as there is no hard or fast rule for everybody, some people can get away with drinking fizzy pop and staying in ketosis and some people can't. I know that poor PAP can get knocked out of ketosis but the small amount of carbs there in some of the bars (hope you don't mind me sharing PAP) whereas I have eaten a piece of jam on toast before and managed to stay in ketosis. It's all about really listening to your own body, I have become so aware that of the effect that food can have on your body since starting this diet and it makes me ashamed to think about how I abuse my poor body by filling it with rubbish.
Hope you have a great first day tomorrow

Hi and thanks for all that,
Cant believe my CDC told me i could drink couple of cans of diet pepsi if i felt i really needed to and sold me the water flavouring to use from day 1!!! I wouldnt hav lost as much as i would hav if i had just done that. Getting my head round it all now, plain water for first 2 wks and thats that. Cant wait for next mond for my first weigh in, how much did u lose on wk 1 and how long did it take u to lose ur first stone.
How long u been doing this diet for now, just hope i last as long as i need to. Yummy shakes n soups here i come....do u like the soups? First few days will be the hardest but i gotta do this, nervous but excited, ill keep u all posted !:j0 -

Hiya all!
Even after Fridays munching, I have got back into ketosis really fast, thank goodness. I was going to have Monday as my weekly weigh day, but have decided, as I just do it myself, I might as well stick to Wednesdays. A quick peek this morning shows a loss of around 5lb, so hopefully 7 by Wednesday :j
I am going out for a nice long walk later, I really need some fresh air and a bit of exercise.
I hope everyone has survived the weekend!

Morning all
YAY, I've done it, 1 stone in 1 week!! I feel fantastic, especially after I went for a sauna before work this morning and bumped into an old friend who last saw me months ago, who said I look amazing. Bless her
As DD is away for a couple of days as she's poorly and my parents want to pamper her, rather than have me work at home trying to do 2 things at once, lol, I was able to get up early and go before work. Depending on how I feel this evening, I might even go for a proper swim tonight rather than sit on the internet all night.....
I was a bit worried that I would crack and eat yesterday once DD left, but my hope to get to the magical stone figure by this morning was stronger, thank goodness!!0 -
Well done Kittikins and everyone else.
This is day 1 for me and ive just had my first shake, choc orange....and to be quite honest i was gutted it tasted revolting! It had the most wierd taste leaving a strange taste in my mouth. Still obviously carrying on but does anyone else think the same? Just hope other flavours ive bought arent so awful, i hav choc mint and some choc tetra pks. Also some soups, i really hope i find one or two that are ok.
Oh well, roll on lunch (i have to have 4 a day as im 5ft 11") might try a choc tetra pack? Wots ur favourite flavours everyone? id love to know x0 -
Morning gang .....
HWGA well done fantastic.. thats a fab loss! .... i bet you are soooo pleased
Tara i lost a stone in 2 weeks... it really is a great diet good luck when you start
Personally i wasnt keen on the soups the only one i kinda like is chick and mushroom .. but everyones different give them all a try and then go frm there
Tara stick with it ... the first few days are hard .. and the shakes and soups are just trial and error .. I only have the choc shakes and the choc tetra now as completly went off everything else ....One thing i did find was having the shakes warm that helped alot .... have a great water swigging dayxx
Hoping to be a thinner me in 2010!0 -
I've not tried the choc/orange one - not sure I'd like it. I tend to steer away from the choc shakes although I have tried the choc mint one which is OK. My favourite shakes are Cappucino, toffee and walnut, fruits of the forest and banana. Shakes are a bit of a pain though cos I have to whizz them with my stick blender to get the lumps out. I have the porridge for breakfast and prefer the plain one to the apple and cinnamon. The soups I have are leek and potato (which is nice and thick), chicken and mushroom, spicy tomato and I think I've tried a vegetable one and mushroom which are OK. didn't like the oriental chilli at all. The bars are all really nice when you get on to them, I think peanut crunch is my favourite though. Don't like the tetras either (they taste funny to me) but I guess they're handy when you're at work or out and about. It must be really difficult if you only like a couple of flavours as you must get bored of it that much quicker surely? Hope you can find some that you like Tara. I've tried both Lighter Life and Lipotrim sachets and the Cambridge ones are streets ahead taste wise.
regards
