I like typhoo atm but noticed pg tips were on offer at morrisons today.
  • My Husband is a tea addict so when I tried Sainsbury's basic bags 80 x 28p I was expecting him to comment, so I transferred them from the box into the Tea Caddy and waited, and waited and waited and NO COMMENT.

Result we are saving punds and he still isn't aware. :j

I have to have Yorkshire Tea tea bags. I've saved money on lots of my food shopping by shopping at Aldi now for a year but just didn't enjoy the tea bags. Other brands of tea just seem weak in comparison to me.

If this is a money-saving site, why are people talking about tea bags? Bags cost several times more than loose tea, tea tastes better from a pot, and disposing f the used tea is easier (it's not true that tealeaves block sinks).

Oh, no, life's too short to be faffing about spooning loose tea (and wiping up the bits that fall off the spoon), having to strain the tea, deal with the bitty bits you invariably get in the cup, and having to rinse the teapot out 17 times, and then slush water round the sink 23 times to get rid of the leaves when you have finished.

I'd have to absolutely skint to my knickers to goback to that....
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

If you use the mysupermarket website and put 'tea' (or anything else) in the search box it will compare prices on Ocado, Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury's. For Tetley Tea Asda was the cheapest last week though I'm still wading through the bags we got from Morrisons a few months ago. It does pay to shop around. I will definitely be trying the Sainsbury's basics. I use one teabag to make tea for me and my husband, by the way.

Never used loose tea so genuinely not sure, but Sainsbugs basics tea bags work out at 0.35p each! Is loose tea even cheaper than that?

I agree with comment about yorkshire tea bags - they are amongst the most expensive, but ohh so worth it. We get through around 5-8 cups a day here, so not cheap. On the plus side though, these are quite strong so you can get two mugs out of them. We all drink massive mugs of tea, so would probably be good for 3 cups..

I'm intrigued about the sainsburys basics though - I'm hearing lots of good things about sainsburys basics range lately..
We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic. ;)

Iceland have Twinings 100 T-bags for £1. Other half says it's nice! :rotfl:
  • I would recommend buying a £15 proper tea pot from Debenhams or similiar with a strainer and use loose tea. Morrisons have an offer on their "the best" loose tea for 99p a box. It lasts us absolutely ages and makes a great cuppa!
