12:44 22Jul09 GBP/USD: Sterling Boosted By Large Dividend Payment
A Sterling move underway as a large petro-oil company dividend payment impacts while the other majors tread water in early North American trade. The talk in London is that the market was far shorter of Sterling than initially thought and this plus the tripping of stops above 1.6400 has driven Cable to 1.6450, just shy of the 1.6453 session highs. We have a minor level at 1.6470, an hourly high from late Tuesday trade.
EUR/GBP is at session lows of 0.8643 having bettered the earlier drop to 0.8646. The sizeable EUR/USD digital option play at 1.4200 may well be playing into Sterling"s hands as the EUR is drawn to the figure every time it attempts to follow Cable higher. Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk
