Just got 1.60USD to the pound at First Choice. My local high st has all the banks, post office, Thomas Cook, Thomson and Coop travel, so was able to compare very easily. Thomas Cook offered 1.59, Thomson 1.58, Barclays 1.55 and Post Office 1.54. Very happy with the rate - off to the US on Wed.
Fist Choice also gave us a leaflet with a free haircut or manicure/ other beauty treatment, so we got a good deal all round.0 -

Using the advice on this thread, Crown currently 1.6202 with free delivery, Thomas Exchange currently 1.615 £5 delivery.
Rather have the cash than the haircut.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
thing is.. the rate has gone up today, so most high street places won't up their rates til tomorrow morning... that 1.60 won't be that appealing tomorrow IMO..

It's been so up and down lately - I get excited it looks like it's on an upward surge then next time I check it's gone back down...
Riding the currency rollercoaster was getting too much for me so I bought a stash from Crown Currency Exchange on Friday for delivery in August and got 1.645 which I'm happy with at the moment. I plan on buying the rest closer to the time and will be pleasantly surprised if I get anywhere close to that rate... I think it's the lowest rate I've ever had when visiting the states but it's a whole lot better than it was a couple of months ago. I just hope they deliver it when they say they will
