June 30.

Cable has fallen by more than three-quarters-of-a-cent to a fresh intra-day low of 1.6455 on the back of June"s much worse-than-expected US consumer confidence gauge. This tumbled to 49.3, from a 0.1 downwardly revised 54.8 in May. A small uptick to 55.0 was forecast. The disappointing number is bad news for the risk-sensitive pound.

1.6430 was yesterday"s low (plumbed in early European trade). 1.6500 and 1.6515 are now resistance levels. A 1.6500 option strike rolls off on Thursday. 1.6515 was the pre-US consumer confidence data low. 1.6745 was today"s early Europe eight-month high
