I can honestly say if I never go to Florida again it will be too soon!
Weather turned from 27C and sunny on the day we go there to 16C and cloudy, rainy and windy for the duration of the holiday.
West Palm Beach is a craphole of the highest order. Orlando wasn't too far behind it either. Everywhere is crowded... the drivers are terrible (yes, even more terrible than the rest of the US).
So much for the relaxing break!
Next time it's back to Arizona / California!
Rant over
I second your views on West Palm Beach - I thought it was remarkably similar to Benidorm and Torremolinos (even though it's 20+ years since I've been to either):)
Orlando I can cope with - for a max of 2/3 days at the end of a holiday. No more than that though.
Don't write Florida off though, the West coast is totally different. Sarasota, Fort Myers, Sanibel and Naples are a world away from WPB thankfully.
I've experienced below freezing temperatures on Florida trips and it's just not funny - even if it is still 50 degrees warmer than home, it's just not what you expect!0 -

I went to Miami / The Keys / Naples last year.
Miami - Twinned with West Palm Beach? What a dump.
Keys - Not as mind-blowing as I imagined but very much enjoyed Key West.
Naples - Enjoyed. Again, not blown away. I was expecting Caribbean style beaches. They aren't that good. But the sun did shine so I / the misses were happy0 -
Poor thing with that Florida weather, Neil. No one believed us that we were cold when we were stuck there Jan 2010.
OH has defined Florida mid-winter correctly I think - like our Summers. You can have a gorgeous day, followed my cold and damp. This Christmas, we found it cold most mornings and evenings, but when the sun was up it was lovely. A couple of cold days though.
This is Tampa and the gulf coast beaches.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
