  • And here I was getting excited that the Post Office were offering $1.53 yesterday!
Not going to September but am considering buying some now as it was around $1.40 when I bought for my last holiday.
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!

Crown are offering 1.5990 for delivery after 23rd Sept if you are not going until late.

I'm off to Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas on Sept 10th - have all my $ stored away (thankfully the worst rate was 1.60) but off to FLorida on Dec 27th so will need some more for then. Think I'll hold out for $1.65 :D

  • October I am doing the 'boring' (but I love it) Orlando for a week then this year we are off to Cape Coral for the second week. I love visiting the States (go at least once a year) and we used to do a lot of road trips before we had the kids- Texas, Louisiana, Arizona, Nevada, California, Utah etc. With little kids we have found Florida is good.
Next year we are planning on South, then North Carolina (Cape Fear etc), then Smoky mountains. Should be a bit different.
Difficult one on the currency- seems on an upward trend but I can see the suggestion that buy some now some later is a sound one.
  • Just seen the gains against the dollar over the last nine days are apparently the strongest gains in 18 years!

Long may it continue. I remember (doesn't take much I know) the heady days a few years back where I got $2.05. Ahh.... the feeling to half the price on everything (and nearly knock off all the sales tax) when shopping and eating in restaurants.

Are we likely to see the £ against the $ climb more ? I'm off to Canda then Vegas on the 25th Aug, and I'm tempted to buy now.

Would really like to use the crown exchange, but I'm a bit scared.

I was too, but lots of others on here had used them with no problems . I ordered mine on the phone (so i could talk to a person, not just a computer screen) and ordered the minimum amount £300) to come in the minimum time (10 days) and it was all fine, but I did have a few anxious moments waiting for them to arrive! Also I knew I couldn't be at home when they were delivered (they only deliver to home address) and they have to be signed for, so the postie took them back to the sorting office and I collected them after work.

I would use them again, but I guess it depends if the extra $ over what you could get in the high street outweighs the anxiety/risk for you.:D

I've used Crown too. Ordered over £1000 last January at a rate of $1.769 to be delivered 5 months later (May). Was worried but as mentioned before, arrived on the date arranged back it January and at the promised rate (and at that time in May, the rate had gone down to $1.44). I would defiately use them again:)
If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.
