I wonder you know, i do a load of travelling to the States, can you open a $$ ISA or its equivalent, then put money into it whilst the rate is above 1.6 and then let it grow, so in theory when you actually withdraw it you will have ended up with a better rate?

There are no $ equivalent to the ISA (as far as i know).
