pheww enough sunshine for a while - we have just spent 2 hours in the park including a picnic - was nice
i just have a cold drink first and then i'll hang another load of washing outside :rolleyes:0 -
Fridays list done - can I have a star please
Good to see people sensibly enjoying the sun.

shower curtain scrubbed and back up - DH has fixed the broken holes. We have a perfectly good brand new shower curtain I was going to put up and chuck the old one but oh no, he wants the current one (simpsons one) only!
Right, back to it. Almost finished the bathroom...just need the hoover and then to mop the floor. It's weird as I'm good at keeping it clean according to the list every week but I guess from time to time it still needs everything pulling out and really gutting!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Walked to the shop to get my paper - went the long way, via the downs (about 4 miles, and quite a bit of up hill too!), so it took me nearly two hours rather than the normal 15 minutes each way! I would have gone a longer route but I hadn't planned it, so didn't take either my phone or any water with me. We're all signed up for something called the global corporate challenge at work, so I need to do at least 10000 steps a day (a normal work day is about 4000, so I need to make up for Thursday and Friday!)
I've lived here for nearly 10 years, and have only recently discovered that it only takes about 15 minutes from the house to get right out into the countryside
Hopefully the WM will finish soon, so I'm off to find some lunch, bring in the duvets from the line and hang out the washing. The garden is almost too hot (it's south facing), but I'll try to find a sunbed to put under the apple tree for later this afternoon when I sit down to read my book!
Rach - make sure you and DH get out into the fresh air after all the dust and chemicals! I know you did a long walk yesterday, but you shouldn't be wasting the good weather on housework!
Toots - enjoy your company this evening. Tomorrow sounds good - if a few people can suggest times then I'm sure we'll find something most of us can make. I guess the evening is likely to be the easiest time for everyone to find 10 minutes to sit and be quiet - we can visualise your yucky brown tumour filling with white light and gradually dissolving away!0 -
Toots and Greenbee, tomorrow evening would work best for me as we are helping a friend move in the daytime....but if I know the time during the day I can still join in.
Penny ~those sausages look very yummy!
Been to church this morning, picked up dh from his mothers where he was cutting lawn and catching the sun a bit , he picked up the wrong sun block this morning, he normally wears factor 456 the one for pale blue red heads like himself........
Soo we're lurking inside a bit before going up the allotment, have a few more cauliflower seedlings to plant out, plus I got some free seeds from the BBC stand at my library ( carrots, tomato and butternut squash) that I want to get in.0 -

This is why I will never be director of operations - I can make it work for one but not the other.
The following is a long standing battle between myself and DD (aged 10) and this is probably as bad as it can get as I have not been nagging and just leaving her to it but can I really leave it like this

when laddo (aged 16) can keep his like this 98% of the time

We have however been working in the living room, well DS and I have. I let DD clean the front door!Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -

Yes, you CAN leave it like this kaz... she has to learn.
However - two very clear rules- her stuff stays in her room: if she leaves stuff lying around the rest of the house it will either be chucked back into her junk heap or binned (up to you which option to choose)
- food & drink stay in the kitchen. Don't let her eat anywhere else (certainly not her bedroom, just imagine what new life forms might develop!), although she can have as much fruit as she likes in the kitchen, where its marginally easier for you to get it into the compost bin and you don't have to hunt for it!

Kaz - leave 'em to it. It was about your daughter's age that I said to my kids that their room was their own domain. I didn't go in there. It was up to them to keep it tidy. If they wanted washing done, then it would only be done if it was in the washing basket. I just shut the door to their rooms when they were out. It saved me so much grief and hassle!I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

kaz - the more you ask her to do it the less likely she will.
Yes it's bad but she's the one that has to live and sleep in it, just close the door - out of sight, out of mind
Agree with food comment - my sister ran away from home and
went to live with our mum. Me and my step-mum cleaned her pigsty and OMG it was minging, rotten apple cores, crisp packets.
The worst thing though was a used sanitary towel rolled up and thrown in a corner _pale_
I would say as long as it's just messy, leave her to it!
soappie - I'm trying to get OH to learn the washing basket rule, he will throw his socks on the floor next to it but never put anything actually in it!! He's 27A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0
