    my perception of the o.p
my tyres are expensive, i have to live with it, but i need one now, if i can get one at that price or less sharpish then all well and good

reality for a tyre that size, i have one out back in between the lamp with a genie in it and the magic beans.

i have a garage i go to for my tyres, phone him the day before, turn up with cash and its a good idea if your car runs on same tyres as a merc or bmw as all the local cars like that go to him :D

In fairness though its definitely worth shopping around on tyres - esp the dearer ones. Save 20% on £40 tyres and thats £8 a corner saved. Save 20% on a £250 tyre and you'll save £200 on a set.

£8 a corner isnt a saving to be sniffed at mate

mine are £75 a corner i think, i saved about £40 just on the fronts, i get a ridiculus number of free minutes on my contract phone so the shopping round cost me nothing :j

Totally agree :money:- i didnt say dont do it on cheaper tyres though, just that percentage savings on expensive ones meant a more worthwhile saving.

There is the impression by some on here that 'oh if you have to look for savings on x5 tyres then you cant afford the car' - totally not the case.

I didn't say I was going to run my X5 on cheap tyres.

But you still chose to go on and poke fun at him for buying a car he couldnt afford?

Anyone I've ever heard say something like that is jealous and trying to justify their envy to themselves. I've had it several times since I started driving so I'm talking from experience.
Perhaps you should have stuck in at school and you could have had a job that paid enough to have a nice car like the op.

Oh, and and you shouldn't laugh at your own jokes.

    Agreed.
My boss won a significant sum of money on the lottery a few years ago but still argues with power suppliers, looks for cheap flights and haggles where possible.
People who haggle and look for good deals aren't necessarily poor or in debt.

My boss' win was comfortably into 7 figures so he's VERY wealthy now but that doesn't mean he should pay over the odds for anything.
