I don't like the smell of air frsheners but I do like to burn essential ols in a burner - only use a few drops at a time so they last for ages. Some of the bodyshop home fragrance oils are nice too. Essential oils direct are good

My house doesn't smell bad at all (as far as I know) but I do like nice scents about the place - I tend to light the burner once the housework is done or when I have people over - have lots of different oils/ scents to have different atmsopheres/ times of year.

  • I accidently found out a nice way to make the house smell nice a few years ago. Our cats got fleas, we treated them and treated the house, then DD who was about 11 at the time had a scarey allergic reaction to the house flea spray, we actually had to move her to a relatives house for 4 days while we aired the house out! We tried to be careful, but 6 mos later one of the cats brought in fleas again. After doing research I discovered fleas don't like lavender oil. I bought some from Wilko, dilluted with water in a spray bottle, and sprayed all the furnishings/carpets/skirting boards/mattresses/curtains/ in the entire house everyday for 3 days. No nasty allergic reaction, £8 cheaper than toxic flea spray, beautifully smelling house, and the fleas disappeared.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

I know it's quite expensive but the Yankee Candle plug in with a cinnamon refill in is absolutely gorgeous!!!

Ikea Bristol had Somrig vases reduced to 50p yesterday, I thought they'd be useful for reed diffusers as they have narrow necks. I don't know if they're in all stores, but maybe worth a look if you're near a big blue shed!
