I have an oil burner which I love. I tend to use essential oils rather than perfumes and I really like being able to blend the oils to get nice smells. Peppermint is a favourite, or orange and cinnamon at Christmas. You only need to use a drop or so of oil in the water so it's really not an expensive way to scent your home.0 -
I've received two reed diffusers as presents (*thinks to self.... maybe my friends think my house smells?!?!). They seem to last longer than pot pourri and give an even scent continuously unlike candles. For a boost of scent I turn the reeds upside down.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0

In winter you can put some cheap fabric conditioner on some scrunched up kitchen roll and put it behind the radiators so when they are turned on it gives off a lovely clean smell x I wonder if you could mix fab con with water and spray that around for a nice fragrance or would it do more damage than good:idea:January Grocery Challenge £203.50/£200

cutting an Orange or Lemon in half and leaving the halves (one in the living room one in the kitchen) to dry out, is a good deoderiser, they sap up the stale odours as well as scent the room. But plenty of circulated fresh air being allowed to travel through the house is unbeatably the best and cheapest method.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

My favourite essential oils to burn are ylang ylang with orange which is absolutely beautiful, or just geranium oil, so nice!!
Have you tried heating a saucepan of water on your stove with some cinnamon powder sprinkled in?? Beautiful cinnamon scent!!I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!

Open all the windows daily for at least an hour whatever the weather. I don't use artificial scents because we are all asthmatic, but this method has worked for us for years (really bad smells can be eradicated by leaving a saucer of vinegar in the room)Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I hate air freshners and these plug in things, they make me feel sick. I'm not fond of perfumed household products in general actually but plug ins are the worst. Oh, and Febreeze, that definately makes me feel queesy just thinking about it. What's wrong with fresh air, some nice lemon and beeswax polish and a bunch of scented flowers to make a house smell nicer? There are some house that smell so strongly of artificial puff-around scents that I've had to make my excuses and leave tbh.Val.0

I hate any artificial smells in a house, much better for it to just smell fresh and airy.. windows open every day does it even in Winter .#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I have a few of those reed diffuser things.. basically a jar of nice smelling oil and some sticks.. they look pretty, last aaaagggeeesss and smell nice.. they even mask the cat poo under the bath pong (I do vacuum it when it dries
) and the boy pee in the loo, they are far too poor an aim to get it in the bowl it seems.. it does mean I can make them mop though
I cleaned the cat pee off the window sill .. that did the trick in my house!!
